I agree with what has been said above - it's got thin hands, which means it would likely be 2003-2004 or older. I would expected pay 1000+ for a service right away if it hasn't been serviced yet
No offense, but I wouldn't call him a friend if he's telling you it's from 2012. He's lying to you. If he's a jeweler, then he should know exactly when it's from. |

Too much $$ for that older watch which has seen a fair bit of 'action'
I picked up minty white dial from 2012 for $8500 with B&P Otherwise would go with one of the minty's that regularly appear on this forum in the $10k range |

I have always purchased my Rolexes pre owned in the past but the % difference between minty pre owned and retail from AD for a SS Daytona is only about 20% so I went with an out of state AD and at least saved sales tax. I have read that many ADs do not do this but I may have been fortunate to find one who would. I rationalized that I saved a few bucks so I bought the awesome book The Rolex Daytona Story. It is massive and really cool.
