Some of the many looks from my Millgauss. It's only a week old and I love it and could not have made a better choice for my first Rolex.

I hate how all my pics rotate. They are normal in my folder and on the upload screen they flip 90 degrees when posted.

I like the Milgauss, and it is on my list to own... but I think the reason it is not so popular is that when people buy a Rolex (and then a second, and a third....) a Milgauss is not top priority. Perhaps because it lacks a cyclops. Perhaps because of the funky lightning bolt sweep hand. Perhaps because no one really needs or understand the whole "magnetic field" resistance? Perhaps because people misspell it (including this thread) as Millgauss vs Milgauss. (There is only one "l".... it is supposed to lend itself to the "mile being French for thousand".)
In any case -- it is on MY list of Rolex's to have at some point, though I don't really need the magnetic thingy. |

One more thing: I would only get the Z-Blue dial. Much more interesting looking than the Black dial.

Doesn't have the classic appeal of subs, day dates, GMT's. maybe a little too modern looking, not a fan of the color schemes or the thunderbolt second hand. Looks like something that Buzz Lightyear would wear.

The first Rolex I ever bought, and still a favourite. Not least as an escape from too many Sports watches. I would wear the GV in situations where something like a Sub might feel embarrassing. I mean, not many people go diving in a suit.

If you think of Mille Feuille, a classic French dessert, the rough translation is 1000 layers, as the dough is repeatedly folded over itself creating razor thin layers of pastry. And yes I was guilty of the double "L" in my last post, not done intentionally but mistakenly. |

I just went through all 11 pages of this thread and noticed something odd that I've not seen in many of the other threads here on TRF. There are a lot of Milgauss owners here that wear their watch on the right wrist....perhaps a testament to the quirky nature of this watch and those who purchase it.
And before anyone is offended, don't be, this is meant as a compliment. |

I am also biased although the white dial Milgauss is nice to look at.

I tried on the black and blue dials today :) it was actually on the display window and it a single poster. Seems like it was getting all the attention at the mall today.
After trying it, I want one. Ill take either blue or green. If I didnt just pull the trigger on a no date SubC (incoming), I might have gotten one. |

It might be not so popular, but still popular enough to keep in production. I mean it is not heavily unpopular.

I didn't need/ want a date. I wake up I get the remember the day and the date and continue my day. I don't need a reminder. Destroys the clean look of the dial with that honking cyclops. My friend said to me" I'm glad you didn't become a lemming and walk off the cliff" |

I agree with most of what is in this thread. Most Rolex buyers get the DJ, Sub, GMT, Explorer I or II, especially if only getting one. The Milgauss is maybe on a lot of to-buy lists, but takes a while to get to. It happened to by my first and I love it. You have to appreciate it's design as the wearer, or it won't work for you. But from a distance, even the brilliant z blue just looks like another black-dial steel watch.

I own a Datejust but I am very fond of the Milgaus because it reminds me of a watch a super hero would wear haha. I would purchase one but maybe to some people it doesn't seem as practical as the other rolex models?

I haven't read all of the thread but I am absolutely certain that my answer will have been given already upthread.
I love this watch, in white, black and (especially) blue dial variations. I've coveted it for years but never quite pulled the trigger. My latest flirt with it was a couple of weeks ago trying on a blue dial in the AD. Stunning looking watch. But I'm afraid I cannot get past the lighting bolt. I realise it was a feature of the original Milgauss. I realise it fits with the theme of an antimagnetic watch. But it's also the only reason I haven't bought one. Despite that it's still on my list and I still think it's among the best looking watches Rolex make. For what it's worth, when I said to the saleswoman "I can't get on board with the bloody lightning bolt" her response was a chuckle and "that's what everybody says". |

I don't think most people have a deep-seated fear of magnetism and probably see it as an unnecessary. While having the water resistance of, say, a Deepsea is probably unnecessary too, it seems way more hard core to say/think you can dive to crazy depths than saying, "hey, I can walk by a big speaker magnet without fear."
Personally, I think the Milgauss is great. It looks fantastic and doesn't clearly fit into any category. The design also isn't really copied by other companies, making it more unique. It's currently my one and only Rolex.
