Icon9 Availability in the UK

Hello Chaps,

I have dreamt of owning a Rolex since I saw a Tudor Milsub on my dads hand as a kid (Which i still have). And finally I can afford one.

The ADs in Manchester where I live are saying that the Hulk can't be bought now, and they wont put me on a waiting list, and the normal sub with date is also in the same category. In fact they had me on the waiting list for the black submariner and then took me off it saying that Rolex had advised them to do so..

So I adjusted my expectations and thought I'd get an Air-king 2016 for now till the submariner availability becomes normal.. and long behold same damn issue.

There must be somewhere that sells Air-kings ? I don't want to get a used or like new one, because the ones which I have seen on watchfinder and other places are missing tags, or missing manuals.. which I find strange for a watch released this year.

Please do let me know if you know of any ADs in the north, or in Central London (as I am there quite often) that would hold either a black date sub, or a air-king..

There seem to be hulks for sale on this forum. Another possibility if you want to buy new is to pop over to NYC for a quick trip and get something there.

Go on Rolex website, search for ADs and ring them up. You are most certainly at the wrong AD

Even Iconic Watches in Blackburn have stopped selling the LV Sub.

I was taking a stroll down the main shopping street in Murcia (a town in Spain) yesterday and by perchance came across a Rolex agent.

There was about 15 or so watches on display and not one of them was plain SS.

Most of them were TT.

There were two SkyDwellers and one YM2 but certainly no Subs or GMTs.

Regards

Mick

I think it's located between Sheraton Knightsbridge and Harrods!

Did they say that? It's still on the website but at £500 over retail. They should really get rid of the second line talking about the discount you get, it's laughable now.

Try Watchfinder? You can get pretty much anything you are looking for on there and it's at your door the next day with a 14 day return policy.

The AD you're at sounds dreadful to be honest. A trip to London is probably your best bet if you want brand new. The AD's in Glasgow are both very good and very well stocked too.

I know an AD that is holding on to the new AirKing and not even putting it out on display.
Are they even in for the business?

I never understand why AD's hold onto watches unless they are holding onto it for someone.

It's bad enough in the UK anyway

There are two ADs in Atlanta, Ga that have a wide range of SS Rolex watches at retail. You could look at economy flights and get what you really want rather than accept a substitute.

I managed to find a new AK at list price pre increase (£4150). However it was tough and meant a good drive.

All the ADs I'm passing just now have EXP2 etc but no AK, EXP1, SS Subs or GMT.

However always worth phoning as it works for me.

Worth a call, though it may be an out of date ad;

I am headed to London in two weeks and was hoping to pick up a Milgauss GV. If I find it somewhere, I will definitely buy it. If I can't find it, oh well... the trip will be fun either way. One thing I will not do: pay over MSRP. Those AD's holding on to stock they have do so in the hopes that some chump with more money than brains will offer them over MSRP/RRP. Not me...!

Try Pragnell's in Stratford on Avon, they had Subs and a Seadweller a couple of weeks ago, ask for Sam, he's very easy to deal with.

Yeh I wouldn't pay list price for a GV Milgauss.
You should find one pretty easily and I'd haggle as they're not very saught after.

But why are SS Rolexes so scarce in the UK? Is Rolex punishing the UK for allowing America to become independent?

Simple supply and demand.
UK is currently massively cheaper than USA and Europe for SS models. As a result tourists are buying up stock.

Simple economics

I saw a milgauss in mappin and Webb in Chester, close to liverpool. I guess the mappin and Webb branch in London could get this for you. Do contact London branch and they might sort out the rest.good luck and update us.

I've just spent a week in NYC and visited various ADs in Manhattan and NJ. Pretty much every shop I went into had the green sub on display, some of them had more than one. Perhaps a trip to NYC is in order!

Thanks for all the advice guys, after I posted this, I woke up on Saturday morning with an absolute urge to go and buy this watch. So I started ringing all the ADs in the north. To my luck they had the AK 2016 in stock, and it had arrived that morning. Only problem was it was in Liverpool and I am in Manchester.. so went to the train station, and the next train was in an hour.. what do I do?!

The AD said they'd hold it till 1PM, and it was 11:00 so I ordered an UBER and went down to the AD (Goldsmiths) and they had it.. gorgeous shiny and lovely. I got it and took a leisurely train journey home.

Pics for those wanting to see the results of my anguish!

I love it, and can't wait to get the Hulk now. The thing that I love about this watch is just that second hand.. its gorgeous. The colour on the dial is nice too.

Thanks again for your replies, but I didn't see them before I went or I'd have snapped up some of the offers on here!
