And if in a box how you could be missing a box staring you in the face is even more troublesome. Something about the whole situation seems fishy to me.
Yeah my wife said the same thing (something seems off.)

If it is real, I definitely feel for the guy. That being said, I still don't see how if he loved the watch as much as he says he does how he could be so careless. I understand getting distracted and whatnot but I guess I'm just super careful with my belongings.

Karma schmarma. I would totally feel bad for the guy if he didn't see fit to post his blubbering and ask for money. He needs a lesson from the Don.

Yes watched the YouTube -

So here's the deal for me - he is no worse off than anyone who has lost their watch in the ocean. (Remember that thread?)

He paid the $5K after the accident - he obviously felt he could afford to buy it in the first place...the only difference is he hasn't a working Air-King. But that Seiko will serve to get him places on time until he begs enough money to get another Rolex.

Apologies if off base. I watched the video as per your recommendation. Still does not quite add up. How a watch box stayed on his car roof until a freeway still seems a bit strange and doesn't really make sense. Mazdas don't extactly have flat roofs. I certainly won't be re-watching.

Imagine you were in your car traveling about 60 mph and happen upon that little green box in the middle of the road. How many of you would recognize it and say "hey, that's a rolex box!" and pull over?

Ouch! He should have strapped the watch in first, then his 3 year old. Priorities!

Quite hilarious the idea of asking for contributions. Are pity donations a valid alternative to insurance now?

He should definitely look into his insurance policy and the owner's insurance policy, it must surely be covered somewhere.

I feel bad for the guy. Not everyone is in the financial situation where they can afford $5,000 luxury item. Hopefully the owner has the watch insured and can file a claim. If so, Youtuber should be responsible for the deductible as well as any increase to the policy price. End of story.

I'd part it out on ebay. There's little to be recovered here. Better yet, just sell it like it is on ebay, could get $500.

No point in fixing it and selling after a repair, buyer would likely want to see the RSC work order and be shocked to see that 90% of the watch had been replaced.

My girlfriend called me, sobbing uncontrollably, when she dropped her Movado (which I gave her) on the floor and cracked the crystal. I literally said the same thing to her: "Get a grip." But I give her credit for not putting her meltdown on Youtube.

Speaking of watch finish & deleting, where'd the thread go about the 2.5 year old AP the guy was complaining about here? Think it was removed behind the scenes.

I was not going to comment but I got sucked in! I saw the video, he's a nice guy and I did feel bad for him until he asked for donations. The whole scenario did seem sketchy, especially now that the videos were removed! I hope it wasn't a plot to simply fund his next watch since he appears to be a serial watch flipper.

Yep my bet is that it was a fake to generate views on YouTube and get donations.
