Great shots..... are you refraining or buying? I have heard mixed reports on how tax is dealt with at the airport, some saying that the AD there will adjust price for EU residents to a similar tax free equivalent price. Any experience of this?

Yes, ones who do are indeed as rare as a Daytona C in an AD window! Bon voyages Dan...

Those TT Daytona's are very tempting.... they are almost winking at me in the photo!

Thx for sharing. Better collection than when I lasted pasted by earlier this year. Only thing they had in stock in steel was lady datejusts and a yachtmaster. This was in end of march

This seems like just regular stock at any old boutique. I swear, the way you guys describe the boutiques in the EU/UK makes it sound like you're walking into a store with depressed salespeople loitering around with nothing to sell.

I was there in April and I believe the rep said everything was tax free. They also had a new Yachtmaster for around $9,800. I was rather tempted but better senses prevailed.

The prices quoted at the Gassan outlet inside Schiphol Departures are inclusive of all tax/duty, it's just that the retailer has already discounted their pricing to a level as if the tax/duty had been removed.

So, even as an EU resident, flying only within the EU, you would get the lower price and not have to declare the item upon return to your own country, as the tax/duty has already been paid ok, within the purchase price paid.

I came through Schiphol a week ago and the windows and cases were essentially empty.

Actually, as a EU resident, you better buy on the eu side. No difference in price (same as tax free) and nothing to declare when comming back. Buying on the non-schengen side (as when going to USA) would require declaration and tax payment upon return....

I was there yesterday and the stores were received new on Monday. Did buy :-)))

Not on Rolex and Tudor AFAIK (for sure not in the UK, but I'm pretty sure throughout the EU). Every other watch brand, yes. EU flights get airport pricing which is the same as tax free prices. I could be wrong on AMS though but generally those types of rules/policies are EU wide i would think. If they do, then thats good to know as i just figured it was the same as other EU airports.

I have purchased from Gassan and flew within the EU before while getting airport pricing, i just didn't buy a Rolex, so not sure.

Here is the FAQ from a Heathrow Airport AD

I can't post the photos (because I'm in work), but according to the excellent list of World prices posted elsewhere on this Forum, the retail price of an 114060 SubC in April 2016 was €6,900 in the Netherlands, inc. 21% Dutch Tax.

I have a photo which shows that the 114060 I enquired about in person at Gassan Schiphol in July 2016 was €5,702 (i.e. exactly the full Dutch Retail price minus the 21% Tax).

That was the straightforward window sticker price - I was flying direct from Amsterdam to the UK, so I could not have availed of tax-free pricing even if I'd tried to. The price was inc. Tax, but just reduced.

Have a research online about Gassan also - the prices are reduced to a tax-free level, but they are not duty free, so there is no need to declare the item or pay import taxes when you enter another EU country.

They have both a generic AD selling Rolex & Tudor, as well as Rolex Boutiques. As has been pointed out elsewhere there, the stock levels fluctuate wildly, so it's often pot luck. And of course, the collapsed value of Sterling vs. the Euro post Brexit has sadly eroded even that Gassan benefit!

thanks. learn something new every day. Wonder why the UK AD's specifies rolex/tudor as excluded from this but no other brands (its all the AD's at heathrow too that do this, not just the one). I always just assumed it was a Rolex rule to their AD's or something regarding setting prices so far below RRP unless it was a tax refund situation.

I know about all the customs stuff. I usually buy non rolex at heathrow, fly to brussels, fly back an hour later. Quick way to get a good deal without dealing with the expectation of declaring items and paying duty.

Here's my price list chart for Uk and Netherlands , tax free , and converted to Euro and Pounds.

That confirm that prices showed in the last picture (post #8) are exactly equivalent to a tax-free level.

If they will discount the price by about 15% for an EU buyer, then will they offer any discount to the non-EU buyer? I would love to save 15% on the watch and another 15% on the VAT
