Need a sports watch

I need a sports watch, my three choices are the subc no date, the millgaus z blue and the original yachtmaster. If all your other watches are dressy watches, which would you choose and why?

Sub. Because it is a classic sports / tool watch.

Sub. Less dressy, clean classic no nonsense dial layout, brushed bracelet, glidelock clasp. The list goes on but there's many reasons why so many turn to the Sub.

I think you would need a GPS enabled Garmin or a Suunto Ambit multisport watch for all 4 sporting disciplines. Just my 2 cents

Of the three listed I think that the Sub is the choice. I like the clean simple dial and the Glide Lock bracelet is the best.

I'd go with 114060 as it's evidently the most robust of the three and will still look presentable with dings, dents and scratches.

Sub, but as stated, Apple Watch series 2 is probably a better choice

Just out of interest, what function does the watch provide to make this the best choice in these situations?

I don't Sail or Ski as the OP but I do run and cycle.

For running I have a Garmin Forerunner 230 and while I don't use all the functions it's capable of I find it useful for pace and to record accurate records of mile times and distance which is also uploaded to a map when I've finished.

For cycling I don't have a watch at all, I use a Garmin Edge 810 mounted on the handle bars. Again I don't use all the functions it's capable of but it provides everything my running watch does and also a very useful Sat Nav/Route Planner.

Both devices together cost less than £500 and in my honest opinion are much better suited and more useful to the relevant activities than any Rolex.

Also if I take a fall while running or come off my bike, I don't risk trashing anything I couldn't easily replace.

To the OP, my advice would be to buy what you would like to wear day to day and don't worry about trying to fit it into certain activities it's not designed for. There are much better options out there.

Sub, Tudor black Bay, or blue or black Pelagos with metal and rubber straps.

Apple? Maybe he doesn't need to know his exact time, distance, and splits. Unless you are training for a race, its not that critical to most.

Nothing on a bracelet for what you describe. Rubber or Nato will be needed if you want it to be comfortable.

Something in Titanium to be light?

I wear my SINN 856 for the things you describe except running as I dont run. ;). I would probably look at a Pelagos if I were buying new with your requirements.

I think the the millgaus is much to shiny to be a sports watch. I think if you brushed the top of the case and the pcl's it would then be a killer sports Watch until then way to much bling and nothing like a rotating bezel to bring it down.
The YM is more of a sports watch than the MZ but still has the pcl's and that platinum bezel makes it more on the blingy side. Keep in mind if you plan to use it like a real sports watch that bezel on the YM scratches very easy and it's kot easy to polish that platinum bezel. Most big scratches it would have to be replaced. That is why I have never picked up a YM and man do I love the blue dial and Rhodium.
So for me the 114060 is the winner. Everything about it is a sports watch, especially the brushed everything and the glidelock! The Bezel gives it the little bling in needs to bring it together! Now if you had the pcl and case brushed on MZ that would make it a much closer question. And pics (not on me) because thread needs a pic.

Everyone sez Sub!
But......! When compared with the Exp 39mm, the Sub is really not quite so versatile. Because there is no doubt it sits larger and not so comfortable on the wrist. When the reverse sides are compared the reason the Exp 39mm sits better on the wrist is obvious, (the Subs thick ridged screw back,) and being more comfortable to wear and having a lower vertical profile means it is watch you can forget you are wearing it.
Whereas, with the Sub, you know it is always there on your wrist due to its sheer bulk!
Only about 20mm of the Subs back plate actually sits on your wrist the remaining 40mm rides about 1/8 inches off the wrist! Hence, it's bulk!
But don't let me put you off guys! I do like also, my SubC!

Somebody say sports watch? Sub would be my first choice...nothing wrong with the others, but they would be second and third choices for me.

Get a Sub for casual wear and semi-formal (business) wear. For actual sports, I would wear a Garmin, Suunto, Casio or G Shock. I don't want to see shards of Sub if I fall down hard. Just me, I like to baby my expensive watches.

this is the correct answer. the sub would be totally useless for training.

have a look at the Garmin Fenix 5.

It's a question of having a $300ish watch with more functionality vs a 7-8k mechanical watch. If it must be mechanical there are some really good seiko alternatives in the $300-500 range.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those guys that is against wearing a Rolex sports watch for sporting, but there are better options for a dedicated action watch.
