As well, the SkyDweller is the same reference as before only made avaialble in a different metal. A nice surprise for sure, but hardly earth shattering |

I also think that the SS Sky Dweller was the biggest splash for Rolex in 2017.
Rolex has plenty of divers and they have been a mainstay of the brand for more than sixty years. The Sky Dweller on the other hand is a relatively new concept that is the only annual calendar that I'm aware of that can be easily adjusted by using the bezel. Issuing it in stainless steel opens up that technology to many more people, even though it is still a very expensive watch. I think there's a lot of bang there for the buck. It's not a watch for me, but I think it is more desirable than the spruced up Sea Dweller, which is a definite beauty to be sure.

The same reference at a third the cost and boasting the most complicated most innovative reference Rolex is selling. The red letters on the new Sea Dweller that be where the hidden innovation is.

First rolex sports model to have the new 3235 movement, 22 bracelet, redesigned case architecture, and yes those red letters.... I think more design went unit it than your giving credit . I Do appreciate the SkyD, always have but to say this 2017 release is more interesting than the SD43 doesn't add up at least to me Sent from my SM-G935W8 using Tapatalk |

I own it and I think I'd revise the award to Best Rolex of 2017 released prior to the SS SkyDweller with Blue dial

Chaps
Bit of an unrealistic question as the watches are aimed at two different markets. I don't like large watches but the SD43 is just brilliantly proportioned and if I was a serious diver, it would be high up on my list. Although large, it is not loud and the only criticism is that it is now basically an over sized Sub. The SkyDweller is aimed at the suit wearing market and is very very loud. It screams Rolex which is fine if you like being looked at. However, it is technically brilliant and with all the facilities, you do not really need another watch. Regards Mick |

A word for the Cellini Moonphase. It is , for me, the only issue from 2017 to which the term 'beautiful' can be applied with a straight face. The 43 and Skydweller have many attributes, but beauty is perhaps not one of them.
Rolex rarely produce 'beautiful' watches. Which is lucky for the opposition or they would be even further behind in sales. |

Blue ss skydweller best of 2017. New SD is the second best of 2017 easily.
