Anybody go from their BLNR to a new Daytona 116500 and regret it?

I had all but given up on a 116500 Daytona white dial, but I've got an opportunity to pick it up next week. From a discretionary cash standpoint timing couldn't possibly be worse, and I told myself that I'd only get it if I sell one (maybe two) pieces. My BLNR is probably the watch I'd sell, and I was wondering if anyone went from a BLNR to a new ceramic Daytona and ended up regretting it. I've got Subs, 5-digit SD, Milgauss Z-blue, DJ's, and an Explorer II, so I'm pretty heavy on stainless sport watches and I don't think I'll miss the BLNR. I've got some Tudors that don't get much rotation (except for the Bronze) but the market is so soft on them that I'd rather just keep them.

I wouldn't trade my BLNR for a Daytona, but I'm not you. If you don't think you'll miss it, sell it.

No watch is worth putting yourself in a difficult economic situation. Pause and rethink your strategy.

Why not sell one or two of your other watches? This way you can get the Daytona C and keep your BLNR.

Id never sell my BLNR for a Daytona, but thats personal preference. I will probably pick up a Daytona at some point. But my BLNR is my daily.

Which watch do you most want to wear?

Its a watch only. Don't put yourself in a spot where you will suffer financially.

It's more a comfort level and feeling like I already have too many watches and it's hard to justify adding another without thinning the heard. I generally rotate through a couple at a time and the rest just sit in a safe. I've been thinking about trying to get down from 15-20 to maybe 5-6, and just trying to think of what those five would be. Probably three Rolex's (keep my 5513 Sub, my SD, and add the new Daytona), two PP's (Aquanaut and 5711 or 5712) and a Speedmaster Moonwatch handwind. Few pieces, but more special pieces.

I have a 16710, 1675, and blnr. I would only lose the blnr if I get the daytonaC at msrp.

One way to look at it is that BLNRs are readily available in the US. Daytonas are not. So you could flip the BlNR for the Daytona to scratch your itch, and if it ends up being a mistake you can flip back with ease.

I kinda agree with this :) either way you’ll have a nice watch and you can easily make back your money for a new blnr

This.

And for what it's worth, I haven't seen one person say they've made this trade and regretted it.

15-20, wow! I think I'd apply the less is more approach. You're already considering it and I think it's a solid plan. Good luck deciding which ones to keep. Perhaps consider a PM piece.

I'd take a blnr over the Daytona as an only watch (disclaimer,I have both).

Seems like you have a pretty large collection with at least a couple you don't wear much... I'd flip no question. But maybe not the BLNR?

Honestly don't think it's a tough call as long as you are getting the Daytona at retail or close to it. You cam always move a few others later if you miss the BLNR. The Daytona is special.

I have both the BLNR and the Daytona C. Each is an amazing piece and completely different. If you need to let a few go to acquire the Daytona C, sell the Milgauss Z and a DJ. Don't let the opportunity pass you by. Get the Daytona C and keep the BLNR.

BLNR and a DaytonaC would be a great combo!

I would sell some of the others even if their "market" value is a bit low. In today's watch market, who knows if it will ever rise that much. And if you don't wear them, it's just cash tied up...

As some have mentioned before, I would keep the BLNR, add the DaytonaC, and then move some others that you don't wear regularly. Worst case scenario, if you don't like the Daytona, you sell it for a 3k profit, really a can't lose situation.

Not that long ago, I started a thread here about flipping my BLNR because I'm bored of it. I'm not a flipper; the only things I've 'flipped' over the years are the same as most people and that's cars, motorcycles and houses.

I had a reasonable offer for it back in April and almost went for it but baulked on the day. I'm glad I didn't.

I hadn't worn my BLNR for over two months and put it on last week and realised I wasn't bored of it at all and I'd actually missed it. However, that's me and I'm not you. My point is this: think very carefully before moving your BLNR.

Under no circumstances would I put myself in financial discomfort for a watch

Flipped BLNR two weeks ago. Don't regret it and didn't miss it after a day.

Agree with others: don't do it if you're paying high above msrp or if it will put you in a liquidity crunch.

Had both the BLNR and the Daytona C. I sold the Daytona C to finance a Submariner LV and hunting for a Deepsea Blue.

So, I prefer the BLNR, the Daytona C is too small.

Do you remember me josephvman?
Come Stai Signore ?
May I offer my thoughts ? You are a gentleman who loves Speed and Chronograph (or Cosmograph ) dials. The BLNR does nothing unlike a Daytona which suits your motor racing personality. Consolidate and sell 0ne Sub,the BLNR, Tudors & Get the white 116500c Daytona. Dont look back !

You work for Ferrari, now it's time for a Daytona which perfectly matches your Ducati 959 Panigale !

It's a Trifecta of Reasons to Celebrate !

If the price on the daytona is right, I'd flip the BLNR anyday.

I would try to buy both, blnr feels more rugged, but daytona is perfect chrono

but if you can buy daytona retail, then then sell blnr and buy it back later

if you have a sub also, you will miss blnr a bit less
