Another recreational use for the sub bezel

When playing pool with friends, someone always seems to ask the question at some point in the night "am I the big ones or the little ones?" Some blame alcohol and some blame good conversation but I have a solution! I set my bezel to 11 for the little ones and leave it at 12 for the big ones! Works great and I always have an answer to the age old question even if I'm the one asking it!

Solids or stripes, which you could still do with the sub bezel. 12 or 9.

My Dad grew up rough in NYC and learned to hustle playing pool. Growing up playing with him he always called them big ones and little ones. I didn't understand at first (I was young) and he explained that the circle where the number is was either small (i.e., solids) or large (i.e., stripes). We did use solids/stripes with other family members who played at our house. But in his memory I'll always call them big and little! Great idea OP.

My most frequent use of the bezel is to time how long I've been in the hotub

It's much simpler than that.....big numbers and little numbers. Has nothing to do with the size of the "circle".

I have absolutely no idea what the op is talking about but as long as he is happy, that's fine with me.

I've never realised that stripes can be seen as having large white circles from another perspective. Mind blown

My Dad and Uncle grew up in Vallejo Ca. Generally seedy all around at the time and I was raised with the "big ones and little ones" designation decades later. Amazing how your Dad called them just the same all the way across the country! Here's a picture of my cousin and two family friends from back in the 60's in front of "The Westside Pool Palace". Basically the 1st floor room of my Grandparents boarding house. I've been told many stories of that house over the years and the happenings over the pool table! The guy in the middle was a notorious drunk and my Dad still tells the story about how this guy had a slice of pepperoni stuck to his shoe for a week without noticing and being unbeatable at poker despite being piss a$$ drunk the whole time.

Awesome. Side note: love the fact that I can be reminded of my dad and growing up on a watch forum :-)
