Thanks. Keep looking they are out there. I recently passed on another 6156, super clean case and dial but the faceted crystal had a little nick on it. It wouldn't be a huge deal day to day but those crystals are near impossible to find I believe so it would likely always be that way (which may be annoying after a while). All said it was so clean I did almost take it.

I'd also be happy enough with a KS 5626. Unfortunately the quickset mechanism is prone to breaking, which is fine for a date-only watch, but for a day/date would be a major headache, I imagine.

This thread will be 99% Seiko, so here's my new 1971 Citizen Leopard with 28,800bph to mix it up a little. I haven't timed it yet, but it looks great and had just been serviced.

Cool looking watch Adam. I like the black lume, reminds me of a Rolex CERN Milgauss.

The leopard logo is great, and it shows people in the 70's were really cool even in their watch designs

I expect this watch will run very well indeed

Can you hand wind this watch to get it going or do you need to physically shake it? That's another thing I have no idea about, for movements that do not have auto winding how should you properly shake them to gently get them started from zero power reserve?

Thanks Steve. It's also manual winding, and you change the day and date by pressing in the crown. Seiko Hi-Beat automatics are usually (all?) able to be manually wound and hacked, and the manual-wind Lord Marvel 36000 models are non-hacking.

My vintage Seiko 5 automatics that cannot be manually wound have something called a Magic Lever, which gets them going with a couple of swirls, and fully wound quite easily. I think Seiko still uses this in modern pieces, too.

My Hi Beat is about 5 or 6 seconds fast per day, that is fine by me, my Quartz is perfect.

I have to say that there are some stunning watches and equally fabulous photography on this thread.

My photography skills don't compare but hope you enjoy the watches.



The strap and buckle are not OEM, I must admit that I baulked at the high price. This Hirsch strap makes it look more "dressy" than the bracelet. (IMHO).
