Best postage option in the UK

afternoon guys.

I'm looking to send a parcel in the UK, its too far for me to drive and time doesn't allow it.

Ive looked on the Royal Mail website, but the maximum you are able to insure a parcel to is £2500, thats on a next day before 1pm special delivery, signed for.

Has anybody reading this have any experience posting high value items, and point me in the right direction of how to do it. I know and trust the person receiving it, its just the transit part i want to cover myself against.

Special Delivery is about as secure as it gets, but even then it’s not immune to service failure (delays or total loss).

A lot of people sending watches and other high value items use a Parcel Pro account for additional insurance on top of the £2500 that RM offer.

Be aware sending anything over £2,500 invalidates the RM insurance.

So you won’t get £2,500 back if you send a £5,000 watch and it goes missing.

If you have a Parcel Pro account you can use the basic RM SD shipping but you cover the full value via PP (they cover other couriers as well)

Can I make a account for a single use ? Or is it a yearly fee service?

You just open an account, but I have heard they no longer accept individuals and it’s businesses only.

If that’s the case google ParcelPro as remember reading off a few forums one of the staff left PP and set up their own company which will take on individuals.

Or where abouts are you based?
