Rolex Oyster with Date Authenticity and Model Ref

Hi Guys,

recently came across a Rolex Oyster with a date without saying "Oyster date" is this a genuine piece? And if ever what model ref is this?

First time i've seen a Rolex Oyster without saying "oysterdate"

"oysterdate" would be a manual wind watch. This dial is marked "oyster perpetual". I really cannot think of an oyster perpetual with date feature which was not OCC of SCOC

Yes, there are plenty Rolex Oysters with a date complication which are not named Oyster Date.

But 6426 should be a non date model, it should just say "oyster" and 'precision"
on the dial.

I am seriously drawing a complete blank - I cannot think of an oyster perpetual with date that is not an OCC or an SCOC.

If you can give me a ref number, I would appreciate it.

I think it is a refinished dial. Do you have the movement photo ?

If it's a 6694 then it's a manual wind date watch, and the dial is refinished or a replacement.

Can’t imagine what reference that dial came from. If you’re thinking of buying it, some more diligence is due else disappointment looms.

Inside look for whether it’s an Oysterdate like this:

Or something else that is non Rolex.

The 6694 dial should look like this as you know:

Dial refinishers usually have many silk screens done to replicate different dials. Their staff could have made an honest mistake by not reading the watchmaker’s instructions carefully.

But it is just possible you’re looking at something worse than a mistakenly refinished dial - it could be a fake.

thanks for the inputs unfortunately, I do not have any picture of the movement. Do some refinishers do this? Get a dial from an oyster and place it on a watch with date.
