Patek Nautilus 5711 White or 5164 Aquanaut Travel Time?

I have a white 5711 and I would love to add a 5164 but would not give up the 5711 for it. That would create some serious regret.

5711 is slim and sophisticated artwork. Good luck finding another one if you regret it.

Just save up and get a 5164 on the grey market. Best of both worlds. But requires patience.

I would NOT consider a 5164 an even trade for a white 5711 by the way unless 5164s go for over US40k.

No idea, just sprang to mind as something to be parlayed into for favour or profit.

Interesting an Aqua is well above a 5711 in the poll, don't see that often.

To me , 5711 white equals 5164. I take 5711 blue anytime.

I wouldn't consider it an even trade either, 5711 white goes for strong premium while 5164 can be had BNIB for MSRP.

Neil, I reckon it's because there are have been a lot more happy 5164 owners on here as of late.

You really can't beat the perfect mix of it being super comfortable, perfectly proportioned and sized, having an easy to use and practical complication and beautiful dial, all without being part of the tulip mania affecting the 5711/5712. I wear it near daily no matter the occasion, be it in the boardroom with a suit, or taking a quick dip in the pool.

Yes, it's an incredible piece no doubt and a forum darling now, but for me it was a price thing before, as the mark up from the 5167 put me off and others too I'm sure, plus I didn't fancy buying a PP used. But as prices have moved up on many PPs now, that is not a concern and I decided to pull the trigger on a watch I never forgot trying on 3 years earlier.

I've been wearing it today and I would say it is my most consistently best looking watch, doesn't need sunlight like the sunburst dials, it just always looks cool.

Similar for me. I had never really entertained it before because the price seemed steep to me vs the 5167 and 5711 I bought new each with a small discount.

Now everything is priced so high the 5164 new seemed like a good value

That couped with my love for the aqua in general. Easy buy.

Agreed. I thought the 5164 was too much of a premium for what it offered. But the increases in the other models made it comparatively better buy and the spread narrowed to a figure that I found a lot easier to stomach.

For instance, the MSRP difference is almost $15K USD. However, I sold my used 5167 and BLNR for a premium price, adding a few hundred and I was able to get my 4-month old, mint 5164 and that seemed a lot more reasonable to me, giving the BLNR around $9,000 USD in trade value.

While I love the 11, I prefer the function of the travel time. Plus the tropical strap feels great.

One of the toughest polls I have seen here on TRF. I own and love the 5711 piano dial, but the 5164 is #1 on my wish list. If forcefully pressured, I believe I would pick the 5711 due to versatility – probably easier to wear on all occasions, from the beach to a black tie event. But I just can’t stop thinking of the 5164. Maybe the closest I can get to a decision is: either ‘both’ or ‘neither’ (if the latter, go with 5712, which is hands down my favorite watch).

Very close. I admit I dragged this on far too long. Should have kept my mouth shut or set a lower fitness goal

5711 for me. Really regret passing on a white one at MSRP from AD 2 years ago. Sigh.
