Patek Basel 2018 predictions

What do you expect
For me love to see both the the 5726/1A & the 5990/1A in blue dial
This will make a lot of sense , at least to justify the expected 20% price increase in both the 5711 & 5712 , just my thoughts , no info

I'd love to see a ss version of the 5976!

But you know it's patek.. they don't make what you love.. they make you love what they make

I also think 5990A blue dial is possible. By doing that they could come up with a new price for the 5990A as well. Same could apply to the 5726A

5726 in blue would be perfect!

A 5726A blue dial would make my mind explode... but am I the only one that would still like the grey more? I'm over blue dials hahaha. I'm actually looking at 5711G's on straps.... I'd love to see a full white gold nautilus... bracelet and all. Weather a 5712/1G or a 5711/1G would be so cool with the grey dial....

I'm thinking Patek will try to make the non-sports watches as attractive as possible, so nothing much on the sports if anything.

I'm on a bit of a grey/anthracite/ruthenium/rhodium kick as well, or maybe I just like all the fancy names...

or make sports watches in white gold. They did it with the 5168G already and its the only metal for a 42mm aquanaut. full gold on bracelet 5711G, 5712G, 5726G, 5990G and replace the SS versions, but keep the same dials as the SS versions. That would pretty much kill the secondary market as who is going to pay double retail for a regular production 5711G like they do with a 5711A?

I know it won't happen but I think they could really use a new design in stainless steel at a more entry-level price point to take away some of the Nautilus frenzy and make the brand more approachable to younger collectors. While another pilot would undoubtedly be controversial, I suspect an unlimited steel version in the 30K range with a minor complication (sub seconds or date) would be a hot seller. Again, highly unlikely and I'm sure, highly controversial, if it happened.

anything entry level is going to make the craziness worse IMO. The 5522 was a disaster as far as drama, allocations, flipping etc. Probably didn't matter a ton that it was a LE, although it was a factor. They wouldn't have made huge production volume regardless as the 5711 isnt a LE and that is also crazy.

It would have gotten flipped, gotten people mad, and had people banned here regardless if it was limited or not.

I think the limited edition steel combined with the low price point is exactly what caused the problem from a market perspective (I get that others just dislike the design). The aquanaut line co-exists with the nautilus and I suspect relieves some of the Nautilus pressure. I also think if it were priced in the 30K range it would not create the same degree of frenzy as a $21K limited edition piece that is basically released all at once to the market. Just my $0.02.

Good chance of seeing a time only watch for the younger market. A 5522 -G like watch for about 20k

Also hope to see some more Aquanaut or Nautilus models for the younger generation at accessable price points.

I just purchased, this week, the 5726a grey dial also. And like you, I'm tiring of the blue dial watches. The Submariner had that one wrapped up long, long ago; and everyone else has just followed suit. Grey dials are just classy. Also love the 5146g or p grey dial. Can't ever go wrong with grey.

im not tired of blue but i get that. I had the same dilemma when deciding when to request my 5990. Wait to see if a blue was released or go for the grey. I came to the conclusion that if both existed, i would still get grey for that reference so thats what im waiting on.

The WGs would make the market for the SS resale redundant, but I can't see it unless they disco the SS first which I don't think Patek can bring themselves to do, just too risky. It's also likely used prices for the WG would then move up steeply, like the two WG Aquanauts, so the SS would still be cheaper, so not an ideal solution, unless production is ramped up on all these so they sell at retail.

Seeing how the demand for the 5522 was so price led, they really should drop prices on the dressier models, ACs and PCs and chronos, so they can really compete with the sports models.

I thought about the 5522 or something similar but I can't see another SS sports being released, as while it might take some money from the Nautilus it will also take some from dress models too, so all in all more money would be going to SS sports which is certainly not the aim.

When I was last at the NYC boutique I was talking to someone there who also mentioned the Nautilus perpetual as a "hope" for Basel. Thought it might look like the 5726 but with indicators arranged like on last year's 5320. Would certainly be interesting.

Not tired of blue but on 5 watches 3 have a blue dial, so can’t imagine getting another blue dial one day, especially there is blue and blue, the blue on my Nautilus is nice, but the blue on my Voutilainen is just another dimension, the blue is just amazing, other blue dials are a little boring next to it, except some like the 5711P or 5980-1AR...

You mean without the bull's eye chrono? I suppose it might look too similar to the 5164 if it had it, but that's kind of the Naut's signature now... interesting to imagine the 3 subdials dial.
