I speak mandarin fluently and understand a lot of cantonese....certainly the number system.....I think the 8 is fa like you say/wealth.....3 signifies the 3 stages of life in mandarin versus the sound sounding like life in Cantonese.....1 is the same....but I'm not so sure about the 2....I know it sounds similar to easy in Cantonese (ngee) but in Mandarin it's "er" and totally different.....just mentioning....off subject but pretty happy Patek has some pretty nice numbers going for their brand recognition.
