5711 or BLNR?
I have the option to purchase a 5711 white dial for USD 38k. Another seller proposes a BLNR for USD 10k. Both are BNIB and both offers will expire soon as these pieces sell like hot cake. I have to make a decision in the next 24h. I have been on the look out for both for very different reasons.
Which one should I go for and why? I have my own idea but would appreciate your views. Thanks! |

5711. A BLNR is a much easier watch to source and you can get it from an AD at retail.

Very different watches.....with the landscape now I'd do the 5711 if you have the opportunity.

For some reason I totally missed that part in the OP's post. Hell no I wouldn't pay the premium on either (too high on the 5711 and I don't think the BLNR should be that difficult to get without a premium with a little patience).

Are you serious? You want to know whether to buy a 38k watch or a 10k watch? You really can’t decide?

BLNRs are still available at ADs at list price. It's not as nearly in demand as the SS Daytona.
Get the 5711 if paying over list price for a regular production watch doesn't bother you. |

Here you probably won't get one BLNR vote if no pricing issues.

Get the 5711. Hold it, think about it. If you don't love it you can sell it without loss relatively easily. The BLNR is a great watch but easy to get on . arelative scale

I would never pay $38K for a 5711 in SS. Never.

You should buy the watch you really love and can afford. If you are buying to flip, you might be able to make a profit on the 5711.

OPs location says Dubai so pricing & availability might be different.
Generally access to blnr is easier however the price being offered to you for the 5711 is a huge premium. For your reference in the US msrp for 5711 is $29,803 while for the blnr it's $8,950. Outside of pricing it really depends on which one you really like. |

No debate on this one-obviously the BLNR. 5711 steel is beyond boring in my opinion, it’s just a status symbol. If you talk 5711r then that’s different

Thanks for sharing your opinion, guys. The retail price of the BLNR is USD 9.5k here and has a pretty long waiting time. So paying USD 500 over retail to get it faster is not an issue.
I know that hesitating between these 2 watches is a bit of an odd thing, but as I said above, I like both watches for very different reasons (the 5711 probably for the wrong reasons). The question was more like: Should I blow a ridiculous amount of money to own a grail watch that I’ve been eyeing for a while (I prefer the white dial because of the black batons and hands, which enhance legibility and which Patek usually only does on their highest end pieces) or should I go for a workhorse watch that will serve me in a much more functional way as I travel extensively for work. Just wanted some views (maybe with pros/cons) without being judged :) Thanks again and have a great day all. |

38k for an 5711 is on the lower end here in EU and prices are just going up. We already have few 5711 (blue dial) selling for above 48k on Chrono24. Ridiculous... probably, but it is a fact of life these days. So 5711 is probably a better choince

Both Honestly if you are willing to pay 38k for the 11 then adding 10k more and getting the batman shouldn't be a big problem. And you get the grail and the work horse |

If I can buy my grail watch within my budget, I will always go for the grail. A very easy choice here.
