Wempe Nyc 5164r

After yesterday’s disaster at your day, decided to go to wempe today, they happen to have a 5164r in stock... pretty amazing, had to hold myself back from pulling out the Amex... it has great weight, I didn’t expect that, I love a watch with a little weight present...

Anyhow, was treated incredible, nearly pulled the trigger. I still may...

Also spotted one in DC downtown last Week. Still there I guess. They offered me 50k net for a piece. Fair price imo, though it could be cheaper elsewhere perhaps.

If that’s the same one it’s been there since November 2017 when I picked up my 5164a

seems that patek does many more PM aquanauts than nautilus, which makes me a bit worried about the formers' value retention.

I wonder if it is the same one I tried on a couple of weeks ago at Lenkersdorfer at Tyson's Corner. Definitely a heavy presence. It was rather difficult to fully appreciate because it still had a clear protective plastic wrapping. I think it was tagged at 53K. Since it was out of my price range I wasn't so bold as a even ask for a discount. I must say it was quite a fine piece on the wrist.

not really. Ive paid retail for all of mine, however i dont really have to wait either so its well worth it.

In general though, they are not the place to go for discounts on anything. They are less than what you could get elsewhere. Relationship vs price is the main choice to consider.

Do you get other stuff, eg a free strap when you bought your 5524?

no straps, however i haven't asked. It would have been good to have with the 5524, but with watches on rubber like my 5164 its no big deal as its going to last a long time.

They are stingy with the free gifts though. Nothing more substantial than a loupe for me.

I think they may on this RG, we've all complained the price is very steep on this one.

ive gotten discounts there on other stuff, just not on the particular Pateks i own... its less than other AD's though for sure. Id bet its about 1/2 of the standard discount on offer.
