Daytona 6265 Check - 8.6M serial, first vintage purchase

Hey all

Been a minute since I've visited TRF and these parts, but I'm considering my very first vintage purchase and it's a daunting proposition given all the information out there, potential for scams/unsavory dealings, and obviously cost (both upfront and maintenance/parts/servicing needed)

Info:

Ref 6265
Serial 8.6M (mid 1980s?)
End links appear to be stamped 571
Bracelet appears to be stamped 78350

Would really appreciate any and all input on this beautiful grail Daytona that I'm considering. Plan to wear it often, and likely send it in for immediate service to my trusted watchmaker LA Watchworks to get her up to date given the unknown history/provenance of the watch if I move forward.

Thanks very much

Sammy

Nothing quite like jumping in the deep end!! I am not qualified to comment on this watch but my question would be do you trust the dealer/seller? If I was in your shoes I would find a dealer I trusted and then ask them to find me the watch I am looking for. Might cost you more in the short-term but you are buying their knowledge, skill and reputation. Added together this should = peace of mind. Good luck.

Appreciate the feedback!

I spoke with the owner of the store who has this piece and find him to be trustworthy, he’s done a lot of deals on here and elsewhere with 5 star reviews. It’s more questioning this particular watch and whether it’s fully authentic, or if anyone can catch or notice anything who may have experience or expertise before pulling the trigger..

How about a full size photo instead of five smaller ones. Thanks in advance.

Sorry about that, having some trouble resizing images to meet TRF's max allowance of 293KB for a picture

Buying a vintage Daytona as a first vintage buy is crazy. You should document read a lot about vintage daytona first. Then only buy to a very well known vintage Rolex dealer. And then ask to many vintage experts what they think of the watch.
