Hi everyone
I've recently developed an interest in this piece. For those that own it, what do you recommend? Bracelet or strap?

How do they 'hold up' on the secondary market?

The simple guide is to always buy on a bracelet if you think you will ever want to wear it that way, as it is much more expensive to buy later on. OEM straps can be expensive too, but some of the nicest straps come from aftermarket sources, which are more reasonably priced. In short, bracelets are permanent goods, while straps are consumable. Personally, I also think you will get better resale with a bracelet attached.

Edit: the last couple that are showing on watchrecon had a final listing of around $5000 - only the owner and buyer know exactly what they sold for. Neither had bracelets, but there was a bracelet separately for sale recently for $1100.

Bracelet m, about resale as far as I know you will take a big hit, as with 99,99% of watxhes

Always buy a watch on a bracelet, as you can add a strap later on. Buying a bracelet separately will cost you a lot. I am sure that there may be an exception or two to this rule, but what I described above has been my experience in general.

As for the re-sell value... Zenith takes a bath. A major one too. Unless you want a keeper, try to source this on this or other forums.

I believe the strap retails for $450 and the bracelet $1,300. So, as others said, if you ever think you'd want to wear it on a bracelet, best to buy it now rather than later.

Dollars/cents out of the way, I like Zeniths with straps and their OEM alligator straps are quite nice.

The El Primeros wear large anyway and the bracelet would probably only exaggerate that further.

Value-wise, Zeniths don't hold value very well compared to something like a Rolex. I'm guessing you'd be offered around 50%-60% of retail.

Great looking watch though and as we all know, watches aren't investments, so be smart, mitigate your losses, and get the watch if it really speaks to you.

Love my Zenith EP Striking 10th. Although wish I had gone with the bracelet - any advice on best place to pick one up?

I like the look. I'm not a bracelet guy, so I'd go strap. However, as others have said, maybe go bracelet if resale eventually comes into play

as for resale. i takes a hit but i would hold on to this one.

1961 pieces limited pure history pure class and i have a feeling this one is going to be a keeper

and the el primero line is gone now.

zenith offerings now are crap.

i still have mine but the maintenance is hell

go for it. its very unique and beautiful

I don't understand what you are saying about the el primero line being gone and that Zenith is now crap and then saying go for it. Seems to be a contradiction.

Check the website. They dont have the el primero line anymore. Most of their watches now are "exotic"

Just an "exotic" marketing tool. Still el primero movements.
