Back when..... I had an unstoppable obsession with the Daytona. I read every possible article I could find about them. The heritage of the watch, the Paul Newman story (and that was before the auction!) the changes from one movement to another (Zenith). I would constantly look for them on someone’s wrist and get a little thrill when I saw one. I just could not get enough, but I also was not yet at a point where I could afford one (and that was before the prices went crazy). Eventually, after working hard for years I had ‘arrived’ and able to buy my very own Daytona: a used 18k white gold with a black-red racing dial. The watch is in excellent condition and I would wear it with such pride and this bit of an odd feeling that I had this sexy sexy woman around my wrist. I was in love! Over time, and as I added more watches to my collection, I realized that I was barely ever wearing the Daytona (and by then I had both the 18k WG racing dial mentioned above and a 2013 SS black face) for two reasons: (1) The lack of a date complication and (2) as I got older I had more difficultly being able to see the hands on the watch and knowing what time it was!
I do not own a GMT Master II but I am currently browsing different sites and looking. The new Pepsi SS with the jubilee bracelet is a real beauty in my eyes. I also like an all black ceramic bezel. But for right now I’m still enjoying the ‘looking’ and have not yet pulled the trigger; although I must admit I’ve been within a few digits of my Amex one or or two occasions! My favorite watch to wear based upon hours on the wrist (as opposed to tingle in my tummy)? I switch between: (1) a 2018 SS Submariner (with date) 116610LN that I put a gorgeous top-shelf special tanning black alligator strap on, and (2) my smurf (WG blue face with date sub, 116619LB) that I kept the full glide lock bracelet on. My advice to you: buy what you will wear! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sub C (date) LN or LV blows them both out of the water. Brushed bracelet with Glidelock is unbeatable as an only and Sub still maintains most versatile dial size vs Daytona or SD43s. BLRO looks like you may be getting ready for a formal event as the ringleader of a circus...just my opinion lol

As much as I love my Daytona C, I think the SS BLRO would be more versatile for my lifestyle and would choose it as my only one.

904GT...
I just switched out the alligator strap back to the original bracelet. It is indeed gorgeous and feels amazing, just the way it was intended to be. Of all the models, the Sub date is my favorite. The alligator is an R-strap that still uses the glide lock as a locking mechanism. It looks great also. Guess it just depends on my mood, but can’t really go wrong. The red and blue is real colorful. If you like that look go for it. I think the Daytona C will better stand the long term wear ability test if your eyes can read the dial.

Case too square and glidelock too long on the wrist. Each to there own but the GMT is better looking to me. |

Both are very nice and while the like the date and functionality better on the SS BLRO, in person under the harsh lights of the AD the purplish and cranberry bezel did not impress me although overall, it’s a nice watch and I like the jubilee bracelet.
The Daytona C- white dial in drop-dead gorgeous, but as a one-watch Rolex would lack the date if that’s important to you and is not as easy to read the time as the SS BLRO. For me, between those two it would be the Daytona, but for someone else I can understand them choosing the BLRO if they like the bezel colors. Mark |

Only 1 Rolex, I would pick a GMT BLRO.
More complete watch, and more useful complication. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The market has spoken that the clear winner is the Daytona, and I tend to agree that it ends up wearing better in almost every scenario, regardless of the GMT's usefulness.

As a single watch, it’s the BLRO for me. Date, GMT function and a touch of color.

Daytona.
BLRO harder to fit into all manner of dress. Neither would be my first choice. |

I want both of these but I want the white dial Daytona more. I would, however, take a BLRO over a black dial Daytona. If I could only have one Rolex, however, it would be a Submariner.

When the BLRO came out in WG....most people didn't like the aesthetic of the watch. Now that its in SS....everyone wants one, but the bezel colors are the same (except for the Jubliee - which quite a few people say should have been an oyster). Personally the only new BLRO i like is the one in WG with the blue dial. Therefore, i'd have to say you should go for the Daytona.....plus i find the profile of the watch to be much more comfortable.

I own both (BLRO and Daytona C black dial) and I can definitely tell you that once you have in front of you (not just pics or videos) you know the Daytona is more special and better with overall.
I’m waiting to receive this year my DaytonaC White dial as well. But even between the black dial DaytonaC and BLRO- I will definitely take the Daytona. But having the BLNR and BLRO - then it’s the BLRO for sure. After owning several Rolex sport models (Deepsea Blue, SD43, Hulk, Sub ND , BLNR, BLRO and Daytona) I can finally say - For me - the Daytona is the perfect watch. |
