I think it would look cool with the OG bezel.

I might consider getting a used 116610 and do a fun color dial (re-paint)

Also, why didn't you just buy a used 116619? If you had to sell it the loss would be the same as the loss you would take on your Franken + money you put into it.
Oh no, I don't need more heat . I have OEM Hulk and ND Sub, had OEM Milgauss, AK, Cellinium and a few others. The white gold Sub retails for $36K or so last I checked and trusted sellers here show 'em anywhere from $22K - $29K thereabouts, still not in the ball park for me. I paid $8K for this one, about the same as a fairly priced new SubC date I think (maybe it can be had for a bit less, but whatever) and I'm not too picky (as some here obviously think ) . . .

Bezel looks terrible IMO. Also, IMO, the only way to mod a rolex is with genuine rolex parts but to each his own. As long as you like it, that's all that matters really

Thank you I appreciate not just the personal opinion but also the fact that it's politely stated !

Looks cool!

If I were to do something similar, I think a Sub would look cool with either a blue dial and black bezel, or the other way around.

If you payed 23k for a used WG sub, you could sell it back for 20-23k.
If you payed 8k for the franken, how much would you sell it for? 5-7k?

Your losing roughly the same, but one would give me more satisfaction.

To each there own. Whatever makes you happy is the most important thing. Just wanted to give my two cents.

I've done mods in the past but with OEM parts, however if you're OK with how it was done that's all that matters. I'm sure you kept the original bezel insert and wouldn't be too hard to source a new dial if you ever want to sell it.

Do you ever consider getting the Pelagos instead?

I wouldn't do it or buy it.
I do believe Rolex did blue Sub for the Asian market. If I wanted a blue Sub that's where I would look. The price for a real one may now be approaching WG. Years ago I saw one of DeMesys site for like 5K.

Thx! I don't plan on selling this one, will be keeping it till either I or the watch stops (I'm 68 and willing to bet I exit before the watch) or I gift it away. I know that might be another reason to buy the OEM but I do not like to over spend, regardless of what anybody else thinks or does. And from some of the previous comments, there won't be many interested parties, especially priced at $5K - $7K I'm thinking.

Nice watch there by the way . . .

They have a custom 16610 with blue bezel and dial on their site now for $6,450. Doesn't say if they are OEM or aftermarket parts, however.

OP, as long as when you look at it, it makes you smile, then that is all that matters. And from the sounds of it, it does. So enjoy.

X2. From someone that has a Smurf, don't see smurf owners really liking this one. You could have sell the Hulk and BP and get a smurf.

Dare to be different, OP! A replica Smurf!

I certainly see why OEM parts would be better, but can they even be sourced? I wonder how it would look with just a gen Blue dial and black bezel?

I think it looks good. I don't get too worked up with people doing what they want with their own money! Live and let live! Heck, some people like reps, whatever, I don't let it get me butt hurt.

Yeah, knowing Rolex I doubt it's easy to just go out and get OEM bezel inserts/dials/etc, hence the mod. And without further causing distress for any sno . . err elite watch owners, let me tell you there are a bunch of modded ones like this with diff color bezels/dials/etc . . .

They did a good job...it looks like the center links are polished in the last photo (collection)...is it polished or just the the picture angle?

Yep, good enough for me. They did polish the center links, which I wouldn't have done since I don't really care for 'em. They did offer to redo to brushed but I declined, knowing I can always have that done again if/when. I wanted it as quickly as possible too

Start acting your age; 68.

Discussing parts replicating Rolex is not appreciated on a forum like this - dedicated to genuine Rolex watches and parts. IM(H)O.

Good luck having this partly-replica-watch serviced.
