Needing some help from Omega enthusiasts

I recently began the search for a new watch as I will be sending my Sub in for service and also as a reward for having a great quarter. I had three watches in mind and I’ve decided that out of the three, I would go for the Speedmaster. I came across a piece that I really liked, mainly because it had some gold on it. I haven’t found any information about a model like this being made because I’m not really sure what to look for. My question to you is, did omega make a Speedmaster in this combination?

I *think* those were Japanese market only. I’ve seen the black dial version marked as a 500 piece LE

They did. I believe the ref. number is 175.0033.
One thing I often heard about these Speedmaster 'Reduced' is that they are pretty challenging to service.

Should I steer clear of these?

Personally I have only been collecting the manual-wind Speedy Pros. Because I feel they're direct descents to the manual-wind ones once worn on the moon. But some might like the Reduced for its smaller size.

For some reasons I cannot post links, but do search thread 510399 for a read about Speedmaster Reduced.
As one of the more knowledgeable members, Bushido, replied on that thread:

Also, the 1861 has the chrono function built into the movement upon original construction and not an add on post facto like the reduced.

So, for Speedy enthusiasts such as myself, that all adds up to a bit of a turn off. No hesalite crystal, no 1861 movement, and less direct lineage back to the original "moon watch."

There are many different Speedmasters, but only one Moonwatch.

Really though, there are a ton of Speedies, but that’s good because you’re bound to find one that is perfect for you. Have fun searching for yours!

Personally I like Omegas. Just flipped my PO to fund a Datejust but that's another story. However I think the bewildering array of Limited Editions is confusing and does them no favours. That said will be looking very hard at a Speedy for next purchase

Omega do seem to like a Limited Edition, but I think this makes them interesting, same watch with a different face or hands, why not, it all fun.

Local boy to me Strummer, I'm in Shepperton 🙂
