I’m going to laugh my a** off if they designed an in house chrono with a 430 date lol it seems they have. I know I’m a broken record but I really loathe them.

If they wanted to, they could put it at 6, then print the date wheel such that the numbers were the correct orientation for that opening. As it is, the printing is the generic 3 o’clock type, which means a 4:30 window works fine when worn on the left wrist. |

Not a fan. Glad the economy is strong enough for folks to spend 30k on these.

Seems like everyone wants AP to stick to Royal Oaks? Something new may be interesting, as long as they don’t go ‘Full VC” of course.

The high dollar ones look better to the eye. Still who is going to buy these?

Honestly, if you want a dress watch these are some pretty good options. Photos are flat, but from the components used (rehaut, curved saphhire) I think the watches are much 3D and will look much better in real life than on a 2d image. A bit like the Royal Oak Offshore which is hard to capture all the angles in a photo. |

My first impression ist....not bad. I think it´s very hard for AP to launch a new line besides AP because for the most people AP is RO.
For me the higher prices once are more desireable maybe due to the lack of the date window. It might have been a good idea to give up the date for that line but I will make final decision when I took a look at them at the AD. |

While I can respect any brand that wants to bring something new and innovate, I am not sold on this piece. They did great updating the movement; increasing power reserve, beat rate, etc but the case and look is a huge miss. It looks like a fashion watch (an awkward love child between Daniel Wellington and MVMT) that I would see in the glass while walking through Macy's. Interesting to hear in the video that they think this reference could be 25% of their global quantity.
It is going to be interesting to see in person but on first impressions, I say decent update on the movement with a failure in design. |

I have read some reviews and it is an interesting watch if you are an AP fan and want a watch like this. Does not work for me and the price point will make it limited as there are a lot of options for the money they are charging.

I think they’re great. The case design details are beyond the ability of most other brands and I think the dials are being underestimated. I’ll bet most of the negative commentary goes down if they produce in steel and suddenly some of the haters can reach the price points.

I like the case, it's well detailed, creative and unique. However the dial through pictures of course is as one stated unremarkable. Of course, I will reserve final judgement once I have the opportunity to actually see and try one on.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, everyone may draw their own conclusions. Mine looks like this:
Case = high quality, interesting, a feast for the eyes from every angle. Solid and elaborately crafted in AP style Materials: solid and noble, no experiments with any pseudomaterials Dial = very elaborate and in all details of the highest quality Hands = in the style of the long tradition of the house (before the Royal Oak) Glass = an attraction that I have never experienced in such a way Clockwork = optically a feast for the eyes and technically probably at the highest level Bracelets = at least in the pictures, the leather and the workmanship seems to be excellent Buckle = solid and noble. Haptics of an AP Size = the right size, given the case shape and orientation, so that the watch sits at each wrist and has the appropriate presence It's not a Royal Oak - and it shouldn't be. It is an alternative - and a very successful one. When I put myself in the position of AP, I can't think of what could have been done better. I personally think the watch is very successful and look forward to future versions in steel and with dials that look more futuristic. Everyone will make their own judgement. The Royal Oak also had its ups and downs. I bought my first one (chronograph in steel) just over 20 years ago. At a time when it was demanded as today. The comeback of the ingenious Genta design was only a few years ago. So I am confident that the watch will meet all internal expectations. It will certainly be produced in smaller quantities than it is in demand. This also guarantees the buyer a pleasing retention of value. Now everything is a matter of taste. Nothing more and nothing less. Regards, Hans |

I think we are all up in arms for a bit of nothing really. Looking back at it after sleeping on it, out of the 6 releases on 1 version the time/date only is the one that pisses everybody off.
The rest, case, bracelet, and materials are perfectly fine. |

We are always ultra critical of any new release, even the second coming D500 had detractors, but once people see them in the flesh and we actually have incomings, everyone becomes far more friendly and respectful.
