I agree with this. I’ve never handled an st1 in the metal. Looks beautiful though.

Agree. It's not apples to apples.

I own both and they are completely different, so other than them being chronograph, it’s comparing apples to oranges. While the ST1 is a handsome, great watch, it doesn’t come close to the DaytonaC, price not withstanding.

The Daytona has far less of a claim to fame.

Sure. One is manual wind, the other automatic, one is +\-2 sec per day, the other isn’t, the sizes are different, the finishing is different, you can go swimming with one and not with the other , the bracelet on Daytona superior , one has sapphire crystal the other has hesalite, so on and so forth.

I might. I have a Daytona (steel bezel) and I am one of the few who actually need a chrono and use it very often in my job. The ledigibility and thus functionality are terrible with the Daytona. Not only is it too shiny, but there is not enough hash marks on the minute counter to accurately tell the elapsed time. Don’t get me started on the screw down pushers. The speedy Tuesday has a timeless look while the Daytona is getting more modern in appearance. My Daytona is basically a vacation watch and the only real advantage is the water proof aspect of the Daytona. I also feel the value had gone on to such a degree that I am compelled to hold onto it- and the fact that my wife likes to wear it now and again and may not let me trade it. Lol

Accuracy and finishing quality, I'll give you. Manual wind, hesalite, size are subjective preferences. I myself prefer manual wind for instance.

The ST1 is more legible. It's also more usable as a chrono since it dosen't have screwdown crowns. It's also a more rare reference, with better history.

They each have benefits. To say the st1 "doesn't come close" is disingenuous.

I assume the OP started this thread to elicit opinions, to which we are all entitled. Mine is that the ST1 “doesn’t come close”
To the DaytonaC. It is a very sincere opinion, so not at all disingenuous. I was also asked to elaborate on my comment which included why comparing the two watches is like comparing apples to oranges. They are in fact objectively very different watches. With that said, I love the ST1. In fact, it’s one of only two watches I paid a premium for.

If you truly feel there is no comparison, then fair enough. To each his own.

I might be the odd man out, but I've given up on the Daytona. I've owned 116520 in both black and white dial; I've tried the grey dial with red hands from the white gold model, and I've owned the 116500 white. I've really tried to love that darn watch, but to me it is more of a fashion/wealth bracelet. I cannot really time tell easily or well on it at a quick glance; the chrono is a pain to use because of the screw down crowns, and it is very hard to easily make out how many minutes have past, etc.

Don't get me wrong, the Daytona looks GREAT in photos on Instagram, and your non-WIS friends will all swoon, and it is VERY comfortable on the wrist - it is just not a very practical watch, at least not for me who now have to use reading glasses.

I'm not saying the Speedmaster, Speedy Tuesday or not, is a better choice - just that the Daytona isn't all that it is made out to be.

Lol. Exactly how I feel about the Daytona.

So yeah, I would take the ST over the Daytona

I would lean toward the Speedy. I have owned 2 white dial Daytona’s, a 16520 and a 116509, and couldn’t fall in love with either. And I tried! As you can imagine, I took it in the shorts when I sold the 116509 but made it back up on the 16520.

Speedy - more history, more interesting variations to own, hand wound, and if you get the sapphire back you can see the movement. I've looked at the Daytona numerous times and once owned one for a week after waiting a long time for it. It felt like a letdown. It's like meeting a famous person you've admired for a longtime and discovering they weren't quite what you thought they were.

One of each would be great, but I'd take a white dial Daytona over a Speedy Tuesday, assuming I could also have a regular Speedmaster Professional "sapphire sandwich". One Speedy and one Daytona is enough for me and while I like the Speedy Daytona, I'd rather have the regular "sapphire sandwich" version.
