Incoming + AD was fully loaded

Hey all,

On the 1st of Jan, i put on my to do list for 2019, get a Rolex. Less that 2 weeks into the year, my AD called me and said he had a Sub available for me. I have a good rapport with my AD and it's the 3rd time he offered me one and i didn't want to let him down. Plus he said, when you buy from us, we are more likely to give you 1st refusal on some of the more luxurious and rare pieces.

While i was there though, he brought out a lot of the big guns they had on a recent delivery and i got to experience some bad boys 1st hand, boy did that take me back to my youth when i would walk through a toy shop for hours and not even buy lol!

Anyway, i am gonna hold onto the sub for a short while then upgrade when he offers me something more rare as i want to buy and hold some of them as part of 'my investment strategy' (which is what i say to my wife so i can get away with buying what i want now, *chuckles to self*).

To save me scratching the bracelet, i am thinking of putting a rubber strap on it, any recommendations please?

Thanks in advance guys

oh and of course, congrats on your purchase! RubberB or everest seem to be the best options!

Congrats on the pickup! I'm assuming all those other pieces were pre-spoken for?

Yeah sadly, i did pester him to try and get one as all 4 were amazing in person. I think they gave me the sub to get my foot in the door and up their unofficial list.

Congratulations on your purchase.

Leave the rubber strap. It’s a Rolex, they make some of the best bracelets on earth.

Out of curiosity, are you really a ‘watch guy’ or is your angle to gain kudos on acquring hard to get models?

For example, what piece would you have picked if the AD gave you free reign on any of them?

I’m guessing a lot of folks on TRF falls into that category.
It’s rare, it’s SS and it holds its value so I just gotta get it.

I hope this shows the games ADs play in a way folks believe here on the forum.... ALL ADs, get delvieries like this regularly. When they tell you otherwise they are not telling YOU the truth.

I know that’s difficult for many on the forums to swallow, but it’s the truth.

That Sub looks fantastic on your wrist

Which one of the others spoke to you the most and hence highest on your list?

The OP hasn’t yet confirmed he’s in it because of the exclusivity, but that’s what I suspect based in his post.

Not so sure lots of folk fall in to that category here. They aren’t typically the sort who then want to hang around a forum talking watches, are they?!

Congrats and enjoy! That sub is absolutely timeless.
I’m a fan of rotating between straps and bracelets to give watches different character. As someone said before, RubberB and Everest seem to get the most mentions.

Yowsers on that AD stock! They have just about every hot SS Rolex there!

So they weren’t really loaded at all.....all those pieces were sold. Bit odd that all four were not picked up yet. Me thinks the dealer keeps those there so people can see them in person as a means of getting more money on their list.

Nice Sub, Congrats! The 114060 is my favorite one. Who knows, you might want to hang on to that, its a great addition to any collection. I never get tired of mine, keeper for sure. I guess the Rubberb is the way to go. I've been thinking of buying a green Everest for mine though, going back and forth as l know the black Rubberb is the safe choice.. Enjoy.....

I kind of thought the same thing myself. If it's not the one you really want, leave it for someone who is dying to get their hands on one. On the other hand, none of my business really, so giving you the benefit of the doubt.

Wow! Your AD is a treasure trove of great watches! And, since you ask, my suggestion would be to wear the watch the way you prefer, even if you do get some scratches on the bracelet. That bracelet is state of the art. Enjoy it.

I hope, at any rate, you eventually end up with the watch you really love.

Cheers,
Carl

Always good to see those hard to get pieces in person, but you really did the icon of the group; that sub looks perfectly at home on your wrist. Congratulations.

For a rubber strap I'd recommend either Everest or RubberB. Congratulations on the new Sub!!! Great inventory; still not certain I believe it.
