having the Daytona white dial and the sd43 I would say for a daily wearer I would go with the sd43. The Daytona is a bit too flashy with the PCL and also a scratch magnet. While the sd43 has more wrist presence I have never been questioned about it. Also the legibility comes into play. My eyes are quite good and I am impressed sometimes with what I can read from far away however ill admit the Daytona slows me down when checking the time and I have heard the white dial is easier to read than the black dial. The sd43 is a quick glance.

Hard one....
Am a Sea Dweller fan myself, but don't live 43mm size that much. I think I would go for the 116500, but only because it is the black dial.

Depends on two things;
1- what you like more
2- what you can actually get!

SD43. Two of the biggest reasons that stick out to me are the much more legible dial on the sea dweller and having the date function. I’m also a fan of the greater wrist presence as well.

Seems like Daytona is more sought after, but I prefer to have the SD.

Black Daytona any day. The SD43 just ain't right with that cyclops, and it's too big.

Interesting how many "write-in" votes for the white Daytona-C. My guess is most of those are based on photographs. The white version is definitely more photogenic, but on the wrist the black version wins easily, IMHO. (I've owned both, and still have black.)

Almost like comparing boots with flip flops :) I have both but my preference is the SD43.

These watches wear very differently, and I would say it comes down to how and when you want to wear it.

I own the SD43 and really enjoy the watch, but I can't wear it with long sleeve shirts that have cuffs (button or cufflink). The watch is simply too thick to wear. It also has a considerable amount of weight to it, but it isn't awkward and the wider oyster bracelet it features balances the watch nicely.

I have also tried on a SS Daytona in black and in white, and while I liked the aesthetic, I wasn't in love with the watch. I think everyone should have a cosmograph, but I didn't prefer it to the SD43.

In the end, it really comes down to how and when you want to wear it. The SS Daytona is a gorgeous watch that can be worn on any occasion, but the SD43 is my preference (especially if you have a dress watch already).

I legitimately made an audible chortle on this one. Boots vs flip flops indeed. I like my “43 boots.”

I own both.

To wear and enjoy; SD43 all day/week/month/year. It could be a one watch for all occasions. Wrist size also makes a difference. I have a 7.25” wrist and it’s perfect.

For future resell/return or for a smaller wrist, the Daytona 116500 would win.

I would say more like Red Wing Roughnecks vs black Allen Edmonds Wingtips. I don't wear a suit for work, so SD43 for me.
