How "Rare" Tudor Black Bay State of Qatar is?

Hello guys,

Just wanted to ask, how rare is Tudor BB State of Qatar? I have seen one here on TRF for $8,000 and few on Chrono24 from ±10,000 € to 15,000 € ++. I managed to find one from Qatar dealer brand new with stickers, etc for 5,000€.

Seems like nobody is want to pay crazy premiums for Tudor with arabic letters.

What is your opinion on this?

P.S Does anyone knows approximate production numbers?

Thank you

Don't know how rare but very unlikely to bump into somebody else wearing one, quite like these special editions.

IMHO it's just Tudor with arabic letters and nothing special and myself would not pay any premium.

I personally think it's cool. Not sure how much I'd be willing to pay or what the market is like for it, but I'd consider buying one. My father bought a dozen or more presentation dials from the 70's and 80's, mostly from the middle east. They're not wildly collectible or anything, but they're mostly all worth a lot more than he paid.

Wouldn't wear it. It doesn't get thinner due to the text on the dial.

Arabic reads "state of qatar"

These special dials will trade strong in the future.

The Qatar watches were released in batches of 50. I think 4 were done. Line is done I am told.

They are very cool.IMG_20180908_043835_776.jpeg

Useless in my opinion unless you are from Qatar and think it’s cool.

I feel like the watch you are posting about really speaks to two audiences: 1) any one who has a special affinity for Qatar (and Rolex/Tudor) and 2) People who have an infinity for rare and modern Tudor and want "collect 'em all".
The Qatari piece really does not do it for me, but it is certainly rare.

just buy the harrods edition. The state of qatar owns it, and that production run is still going

they were adding names as of last week for sure. 6-12 month time frame, not limited.

I saw someone online trying to hype these up, predicting a value of $17k. It is a cool watch though. Some other special Black Bays:

Useless? it still tells the time whether it has Qatar on the dial or not.

This reminds me one of those "Harley Davidson edition" F150's, "Coach edition" Lexus, or "Tuesday" Speedmaster's, lol. Interesting to see, but meaningless to majority of people.

of course the guy with a Roman numeral watch avatar who probably doesnt speak Latin would say that... as its a slippery slope to calling that useless

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he meant useless in regards to the arabic writing, cosmetic variation and potential premium one might have to pay to obtain the watch.

Otherwise I feel it's a bit obvious to point out that it still serves the purpose of telling time.

1. The roman numeral watch was the last gift from my father who passed away last year.

2. why would I need to speak Latin, pretty obvious, to me anyway where 1,2,3,4 etc are on the watch.

I certainly wouldn't pay a premium for it, but if I got the chance to buy one wouldn't say no. Always worth buying "rarer" pieces.

i think you missed my point... i was agreeing with you

No one says anything about roman numerals, but its a foreign language on your watch. So its weird to say a watch with arabic all over it makes it useless if you cant read what it says. No one speaks latin any more. its a stylistic preference.

Sorry I really did miss understand your point!

MY ex-missus actually spoke some latin as she was taught it in school in Romania, I didn't know this till she read the side of a monument in Rome and then told me what it said.

Pretty obscure thing to put on a watch face. I don't think it increases the value at all for anyone but a Qatari watch collector. I don't see it increasing the value or collectibility at all. In fact, IMHO it mars the watch face and ruins it for me. I would only buy one if it was offered at a very steep DISCOUNT.
