Broner at one time seemed to think that if he acted like Mayweather (i.e. an obnoxious loudmouth) he would actually be like Mayweather, seemingly not realising that Floyd became one of the best of all time not just because of incredible innate gifts but also because he worked his arse off. Ultimately Adrien was a hype-job.

is boxing still as popular or as good as it was? maybe its me, but i struggle to show much interest in it, when you remember hagler, hearns, duran, leonard, holmes, holyfield and lewis etc i think those days were the zenith of the sport compared to now.

It is certainly not what it use to be. I think mainly because the heavy weight division (after Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, etc.) was very boring for many years. The hardcore fans watch all the weight classes but the casual fans prefer the HWs. Tyson Fury (UK) and Deontay Wilder (USA) are HWs and just had a great fight. I think they will bring some more spark back to boxing. They are supposed to fight again.

I have a difficult time seeing some of my favorite fighters in the ring after 40 years old. I believe that while the damage to the brain is accumulated, slower reflexes increase the damage in the later years. Good luck, Manny!

i see all these great fighters fighting past 35 years of age and it tells me the sport is in decline,

its not just boxing, in tennis i cant see the next generation of greats,

you need your 'greats' they make the standard and they make it all possible.
