36mm Hidden Clasp

Hello all. I've been lurking for a few months now. Finally decided to make an account... I need your help guys!

I currently have a 28mm ladies dj and I'm looking to upgrade to the 36mm. I like the look of the hidden clasp on the 36mm, but I keep on hearing from my AD that they're going to discontinue the hidden clasp. Is this true or is it a strategy for them to have me buy?

judging by this year's TT DJ 36 release, I have to believe that the hidden clasp won't be in the new SS DJ 36

36mm Hidden Clasp

The hidden clasp will be gone. This is confirmed. New TT 36mm with new movement has same clasp style as DJ41 with easylink extension feature. This will be the same for SS models as the roll out with new movement.

The updated DJ36 was announced at Baselworld in 2018, so they will no longer be shipping any more product with the old clasp. There's still plenty of product at ADs with the Jubilee hidden clasp which will continue to dry up over the coming months. If that clasp is important to you and you don't care about the new movement, you may be able to get into one for a reasonable price if you act quickly.

You can probably always get a hidden clasp if you get the day-date 36 at least :)

If you like it buy one now.

I like the hidden clasp better but the new models have the easylink extension, a better integration on the lugs and also a softer case shape.

Overall the new model is better, but I do miss the hidden clasp. Especially for women.

Thank you for this info. My dealer had a 36 with hidden clasp but not the one I want. Time to go shopping.

Perused the Rolex site today; spent time looking over the Datejust configurations. Only the Ladies Datejust 28mm and 31mm still offer the Jubilee band with a concealed clasp.
I much prefer the hidden clasp over the newer Oysterclasp, especially for the Gold/SS Jubilee bracelet. IMO, the Oysterclasp on a Jubilee bracelet is a "head-banging" mismatch in style.

This is not true. At least for now, the stainless steel Datejust 36 still has the old movement, old case, and concealed clasp. Only the TT Datejust 36 has the new clasp and upgraded movement. It's possible, maybe even likely, that the changes made to this year's TT 36 will be announced for the SS model at Baselworld, but the 2018 SS model still has the hidden clasp. And it's still listed that way on the Rolex website, for what it's worth.

Even from a male point of view I love the look on my 36mm 116234. The solid link, virtually no stretch bracelet was the main reason I chose the 116234 over the 16234. All of my other SST bracelets have your typical machined or tunacan clasp but the hidden jubilee definitely stands out from the bunch and is always a joy to wear. It took a couple of link adjustments but I was able to center the blades on my wrist (hence the crown should be offcentered) and fit is just as good as my other watches with micro adjustments.

Pity they are doing away with the hidden clasp.

I wear a new 36mm TT DJ with the new clasp. I wish it had the old, as I have little to no need for the easylink that comes with the new version.

However, the case is much more nicely proportioned, imo.

Agreed. I like my 36 TT with Jubilee hidden clasp and roulette date. Hope they don't get rid of the roulette date too.

The hidden clasp at least on the DJ 36 came out in the early 2000s when the watch was upgraded with the heavier bracelet and new case among other things.

This bracelet on a 16234?

Hey all. I am resurrecting this thread to ask if this hidden clasp will fit on a 16234?

Unfortunately you’ll only be able to purchase from the aftermarket.

Ok, from a trusted source. But who would you suggest I have it fitted by?

Hidden clasp on the SS Jubilee is no longer made. Rolex responded to customers who prefer the fine adjustability within the clasp. With the hidden clasp the watch can be too tight or too loose and really nothing one can do about.

The super jubilees are readily available. Any watchmaker that works on fine time pieces can install it easily. There are literally hundreds of thousands of 63600 and 63200 bracelets out there.
