Upgrading TT Rolex Submariner - 16613 to 116613

Hello.

I’m thinking of making this “upgrade”. Been offered a lot more than I paid for my 16613 black dial. I love this watch I wear it every day but offer is too good to refuse I can almost buy the 116613 for what I’m selling it for. Anyone made this upgrade and regretted it or vice versa? I haven’t tried one on. However I have upgraded from 16110 to a 114060 recently and like the new sub miles better. So stands to reason the same will be for the TT version, right?

I've owned both and much prefer the ceramic model, it looks much bigger, brighter and more modern, also bracelet is in a different league and reason enough to upgrade alone I think

I did that too, but changed my 16613 to black; best of both Worlds: 16613 black and 11613 blue!

I had a long hard look at its 5 digit sibling when you could walk into an AD and buy a Kermit. I was unimpressed. I didn't think it was worth the asking price back in the early 2000s, let alone what people are prepared to buy them for today. Far to insubstantial and flimsy.

To me, the Hulk felt what I imagined a Sub Date should feel like. Right size, right weight, right quality feel. I loved it so much I later bought a 116613LB. If you're me you won't regret it. But I have no idea what you will make of it.

When the five digit watches were what we had, I liked them. But now that we have the six digit watches the upgrades are significant for me and I much prefer the six digit watches across the board. The glide lock clasp alone is worth the price of admission as your watch fits perfectly every time. I would make the swap, take my profits and get the new version. I don't think you will look back.

In the same boat, I have the tt blue dial and for maybe 2k more I can upgrade to the newer 116613. Not sure what to do here, I love the flash of the newer one but feel the classic blue will be better in the long run and it's also more comfortable for me.

I fell in love with the 16613LB about 15 years ago and knew I had to have one. Five years ago, I was ready to pull the trigger but was blown away when I first handled the 116613LB. It just felt superior in every way in terms of finish, weight, and new technologies applied. I say go for the six-digit!

I've had both 5 digit and 6 digit TT subs...
Black dial and Blue dial sunburst 16613 and
Now I have the ceramic 6 digit 116613LB Blue Sub C.
What I can tell you is each have their own charm.

That being said the 116613LB TT Blue Sub Ceramic version
is my keeper out of them all ... It's the perfect weight, feel
look, versatility and puts a smile on my face every time I look at
my wrist... I wear it everything suits, jeans/t-shirt, shorts/polo,
sandals and everything in between . I never feel out of place.

I did the same upgrade a while ago. The glide lock clasp and ceramic bezel were the reasons I upgraded.

I prefer 16613. Nicer and more charming.

Have you seen the six-digit in the flesh? I was about to do the same trade, and I also had the 16613LN. After seeing it in the flesh, I changed my mind.

One thing that popped from seeing it in the flesh is that the writing on the dial is white. I knew I would miss the golden writing, unless you're buying the Lunette Bleue? But the black-bezel TT has white writing.

I own the black face 6 digit, never owned the 5 digit but have experience with both. As others have said the 6 digit bracelet is a big upgrade and so is the ceramic. I say it’s a definite upgrade and worth it, but some prefer older models. To me, the additional heft and solid feel of the 6 digits make them more appealing.
