I may get another Rolex at some point, but the whole tiresome situation has me looking more closely at other brands, which I've done all along, just more so now. The newest Omega Seamaster is amazing, and at the top of my list.
I've got a few friends just getting into watches and I'm definitely trying to steer them away from Rolex. Can't really get into a brand when you can't buy or even look at the watches in person. |

I just found an interest in Rolex as recently as about a month ago, I was very fortunate to get a tip from a TRF member to the availability of a new Sub 114060 at relatively local AD. Looking around I picked up an older YM 16622 for a very good price here.
I ultimately want a hulk as an Irish fellow. But I can't justify, nor afford the premium they command. So to tide me over and ensure I have a decent rotation, I picked up a few new Tudors. A red bezel BB and the Blue Heritage Chrono. I will continue to add to my collection, but unless I get an AD connection for the aforementioned hulk, i will most likely venture into picking up a vintage Rolex if I can find a deal and add a few more Tudors. |

I’ve always liked the Speedmaster, and have contemplated buying one, but not sure it will fulfil my want for certain Rolex references.
So buying one in lieu of a Rolex? Not sure that would work for me.

Speedmasters are awesome watches, it won't scratch the Daytona itch, but it stands on its' own merits. I have the blue CK2998 and love it.

This watch might be my next. Such a sucker for white dials. Wanted the Explorer II to come with the ceramic black bezel like this. |

Since this "shortage", I actually have less Rolex watches than before. The whole narrative and dealer charade is tiring and offputting. I've since started looking at smaller manufacturers/independents and I don't intend to come back into the Rolex fray (at least anytime soon).

Yep, got bored of the Rolex waiting game, even for a PM model. So picked this up recently and I couldn't be happier!

Haven’t purchased a watch in a few years and was able to get the Hulk and BLNR before the frenzy. That said the only watch I want now is a BLRO. With the current situation this does not look possible. When I am ready to buy another and I f the shortage is still an issue I will most likely look to get a Glashutte pano.

I've never understood the need to have 20 nice watches when you could have 4 awesome ones.

I have lost complete interest in Rolex ........
Panerai & AP added to my collection in the last 15 months Rolex’s loss ..... actually I have really started enjoying looking around other brands and I realized that there are good watches to be found at reasonable prices after discounts. In my radar in the next 12 months are Arnold & Son true beat , A Lange and a GS Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I had the pleasure of meeting the creator of this watch at a recent RedBar event here in Atlanta. The one I took a photo of was just one of two existing prototypes.
After holding the watch and speaking with the inventor, I ordered one on the spot! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...mechanical-wat I find myself being drawn more and more to unique micro brands. In this case, it was a no brainer.

I am not in the habit of spending thousands of dollars on watches I don’t want. If I want a non Rolex it will have nothing to do with the current availability climate. |

I pretty much gave up on a new GMT II so I ordered a Tudor GMT but my hopes for that are dimming. There are other choices.

I'm new here but have been 'collecting' watches for a while. I have bought a few watches waiting for a Rolex to arrive at the AD. Funny, I've never worn any of them. In the end, one of the main reasons people buy a Rolex watch is because it is the most widely recognized high quality brand of time pieces in forever. It's been a symbol of success and the best of the best. When I bought my first Rolex, I thought of when my son would inherit my watch god willing. I've never had that emotion around my Seiko SKX7K.

How many of you have actually purchased a non-Rolex because of the “shortage”
I haven’t bought a new Rolex from an AD since August 2017. Since then, I’ve purchased a few vintage Rolex, a modern Tudor from an AD, and my first Omega.
I’ve simply been moving along to find other things that interest me, relative availability of new sports Rolex aside. However, the fact my favorite AD did have Rolex sever the business relationship between the two early this year, plus the fact I already owned a number of pieces I might otherwise have been interested in when the supply slowed down, and the fact there’s nothing I’m so interested in that I’d pay over retail for are all probably contributing factors to my slight shift in direction. I’m not sitting around waiting for Rolex to open the floodgates or whatever, since the market is full of other interesting pieces. I’m becoming more interested in Omega and offerings from other companies, so I am sure some of them are willing to take my money if Rolex can’t be bothered to do so. I don’t fret about any alleged shortage, or whatever the story is, in any event. |

Outstanding purchase. Those are quite lovely watches and are very solid with their own unique flair. Very underrated and underappreciated watch. Oris is a great brand.
