Why do collectors FROWN upon The Tudor TIGER ?

Do These 5 letters really make the watch more undesirable? To me the tiger Daytona on a budget it’s a fun watch and I don’t get why they haven’t caught up to the big blocks and yes I know big blocks are signed Rolex

They are very desirable. Just different price category compare to Daytona.

They're not frowned upon but I think it is risky for a watch brand to add a name to a dial. David Beckham features in a lot of Tudor ads but would you want his signature on the dial? Luckily, "Tiger" is a pretty cool name and can mean anything. The Tigers are cool watches and for what you paid even better!

i just don't think it is a very good looking watch.

the "tiger" name doesn't add anything to the watch and takes away IMHO

I agree with you on the point that it’s risky to put someone’s name on your watch for a long time tiger woods career was in the dumps until he won the masters and the value of the watch actually went up a little lol

As a result of the Valjoux 7750 movement. It was interesting to look through a few watch magazines and find other brands using the same sub dial config.

Has any other athlete had their name printed on a Rolex/Tudor dial?

I think the TW Chronos are pretty cool...lots of colors to choose from too.

It would be pretty cool for him to wear his own watch vs his DSSD. He probably has it in his drawer somewhere.

At one time he had a shelf full of them. He had one inscribed on the back to a friend of mine for doing a favor for him and gave him the watch.

I think they are an excellent value and a bargain. Since Tudor is so often compared to Rolex, I prefer them over the Daytona.

You mean they have a different movement, the rest is pretty much the same. I have variants of both and but for the Daytona name/ mystique theres very little difference.

The "TIGER" is the one and only thing I don't like about this watch. I don't want Tiger's name on my watch anymore than I would want "CAMERON" printed on the DSSD blue dial. Just unnecessary and distracts from the watch in my opinion.

I had both a Tiger chrono and a Hydronaut back in the day. I thought and still think they’re cool.

What's not to like Valjoux 7750, the rest is made by Rolex. Looks better than most modern Rolex IMO except for maybe the 116500LN.

They're not undesirable at all and some people prefer the Tiger variant. I just think most prefer the Pre-Tiger because it's most similar to the Big Blocks that came before. I personally wanted an earlier 79260 with the Oysterdate dial so that eliminated the Tiger chronos from my hunt.

Big Blocks are the previous generation of Tudor chronographs. They're the 791x0 references. The next generation, which the Tiger is part of, are 792x0s. They added sapphire crystals, and a more streamlined case. The thickness is about the same, but the shape of the case makes them appear even thinner than the dimensions would suggest.

Agreed. When comparing my other 5 digit Rolex to my 79260 the build quality is identical.
