Thank you

Enjoying it more and more every day. Coming from Panerai, however, I do find the readability challenging on the Daytona.

As a long time watch collector I've primarily focused mainly on GMT watches as I do use the second/third timezone features quite regularly. I've also been intrigued by Chronographs as I like to be able to time seemingly unimportant things.

I've been quite happy with where my GMT collection is going but have been lacking "the one" Chronograph that sings to me. I've tried an Omega DSOTM and many others but they just don't seem to sit properly on my wrist and I always feel like something is "missing". That is until a few days back...

I was casually browsing the inventory of a reputable local second-hand jeweler that sometimes gets watches in on trade, through estate sales, etc. and from whom I generally don't buy watches as I don't know the full service history and as their inventory is usually full of older, over polished watches in marginal condition. The last time I walked in, however, something caught my eye...a Daytona. I thought I was seeing things and did a double take...

After having lusted for a Daytona for many years I just couldn't justify the grey market mark up on SS and full RG/YG was just too "bling" for my liking (as I find metallic subdials make the Daytona look more "sparkly" than it really is). Although I'm not usually a two-tone kinda guy (and it does remind me of the eighties) I just couldn't resist this one. It looked to be in good condition, a few small marks here and there, but was not over polished or mutilated (I think?), and had just been put in their inventory (after necessary police checks, etc). Had my local watchmaker take a look at it and he's also confirmed that although the back has previously been unscrewed (likely to verify authenticity) the movement has never been touched.

I love the contrast of the sunburst silver dial against the YG subdials and, although two-tone, the whole package just looks right and very subdued. I just can't seem to want to take this thing off! Lighter than my YG GMT II, thinner than my SS maxi case GMT II, and just fits perfectly!

Any other two-tone Daytona lovers? What do you think? Good buy? Good condition for a 10+ year old watch? Have I led myself down a dangerous path of watch collecting again?

I purchased a T/T Daytona 116503 (New Model) in 2017 with the White Dial & Gold Sub Dials. But spotted the T/T Daytona 116503 (New Model) with White MOP 8 Diamonds Dial while window shopping in my local Rolex AD & the minute I spotted it I just knew it was the Watch for me. So I picked it up in May 2018 & I am delighted with it. Here are a couple of photos of it

It's actually the white dial TT Daytona 116503 that I fell in love with and what started my love for the Daytona. It is definitely one of my absolute favorites. I didn't realize they made a silver/sunburst dial though until I picked mine up. Although not for me, the white MOP is very, very nice and with the diamonds adds some "bling" factor.

RCrusoe, that is absolutely the one watch I want ("need!!!") to add to my small collection.

It is a true stunner. The best looking Daytona in my opinion. And I am no fan of any of the other Daytona's except the white dial SS.

Thank you, yes this Watch is special to me. It’s very hard to capture the beauty of the MOP Diamonds in a photo. It was a very close call between the White Dial with the Gold Sub Dials, which I already had & was only a year old but once I saw the MOP Diamonds I was hooked

Congratulations. I love the metal bezel Daytona’s and the way the two tone is evenly spread out on your watch is just perfection. I have a white 116520 and adore it. The non ceramic Daytona’s are very nice.
