I was so busy at work that I did not keep up with this thread. Managed to find 15400 at AD late last week and it looked quite good. But I would probably go with black or blue dial. Opinions? |

During recent trip to London I had few hours to do some watch browsing in New Bond Street. That place rocks.
I had one of the best experiences in the Patek Philippe Salon where I spent good hour trying on the 5167 and 5711 with white dial (they did not have one with blue that day). The salon is very nice and the staff very courteous. This was the best experience ever from any watch browsing I've done. I was greeted and seated at the viewing table. They offered me water and brought out the watches I wanted to see. Then while I was trying them on we chatted about the production, movements and quality. I also took few snaps of the watches for my wife to see when I got back home. Before I left they gave me bag full of Patek related magazines and brochures for me to read on the plane. Very good experience. Here are the pictures. I will need to hold off on the purchase as we have agreed to finish the basement which right now has higher priority than new watch. Which will give me some time to think about which one to get ;-). I'm seriously leaning to 5711 white dial as that dial just pops. |

I don't know, Jan. The white 5711 looks great but the 5167 really jumps out at me more on your wrist!

White 5711's dial looks like a garage door! Glad you had a good experiece at the salon. They've always been arseholes when I've been there. Might be because I'm a local Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

I myself think the white dial looks very interesting and fresh

The boutique staff was great. Not sure if my American English with hint of Dutch (I'm not Dutch btw) made them more pleasant ;-). Or maybe the fact that I was there in morning hours when there was literally no foot traffic. The prices are not bad either if you take the watch out of EU and claim the VAT. |

Thanks. You, my wife and my mother in law - all had the same response. Still not 100% decided which way to go. Both of these models are amazing and whichever I end up with will be great. I hope that in the next few weeks I will find AD with 5711 blue dial that is out of the plastic so I can compare the two 5711. Jan |

The 5167 suits you better I think. Looks more refined and elegant for the quintessential gentleman Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

For me, the 5167 for daily comfort and usability. Some watches you love and wear them on and off. Great timepieces mind you. Then there is the 5167 that simply feels and looks right to the point you never want to take it off. JMHO.

As I said the basement is already under way so watch needs to wait few weeks or months. We will see. There are few aquanauts going into that basement, btu it will be great to have proper gym space. Thanks guys. |

Short update on my search - decision has been made and I should have the watch in my possession in the next day or so. Very excited about it. Will post pictures when it arrives.

And it is here. I'm so excited - FedEx missed me this morning so I had to drive few extra miles to pick it up after work. Everything worked out great and so I can present my 5165a that is just an amazing piece of work.
Now I just need to size the new band and I'm good to go. Thank you DavidSW for fast shipping and smooth transaction. |

Ah it is so good to hear that you've completed your purchase! Congratulations!
And congratulations to your wife and mother-in-law too, for the 5167 will give them joy as well. I love seeing my wife, for example, wearing pieces she adores. Enjoy and wear this wonderful watch in good health! |

Nice you took that 5165 off him.. I was so close to picking that up until a forum member made me a offer I could not refuse.. I have a skinny wrist so I thought I would like the 5165 better but I am glad I held off long enough to get the 5167. I also like that I can get the ss bracelet for the 5167 and it was not available for the 5165.. How bout some wrist shots I am kinda curious on the 2MM size difference.. |

Just finished sizing the watch as David fit new band on it and it was very long. Here is the 5165 on 7.25 wrist. I like how it fits. Definitely less noticeable piece than the DSSD that I used to wear ;-). By the way congrats on your new acquisition. It is a great watch. |

Nice looks good.. You do not know how many times I looked at that watch.. I emailed him about it also but is was $500 more then I had at the time and was still saving.. I am happy it went to a great home.. Can you hear the rotor on the 5165, because the 5167 is pretty load but I am getting used to it..

I hope you get replacement rubber strap soon to enjoy that nice piece. I bought new one from David along with the watch since I knew the 7in fit would've been too tight. Glad I bought the watch it is so freaking nice. Can't believe it - I guess I have few weeks of new watch honeymoon ahead of me ;-). |
