Whats the right price for one of these now? On Chrono24 they still seem to be around $90,000.
These are trading in the mid 60s right now pre-owned. I also have a friend that has a BNIB one to sell in the low/mid 70s.

I prefer the Lange... I think it’s nicer. That’s just me

All the fanbois was convincing each other that it would spike at one point when they discontinued it

There's no question IMO you can stare at Lange movements all day from admiration.. unfortunately I wear my watches and see the front 98% of the time short of taking it on and off... The Lange chronos aren't even in the same league as the 5170p from the front or how sleek it wears from my point of view. Could care less what they're supposedly trading for in these hidden auctions between dealers and others. Mines a keeper. But I respect the decision to move on if it's not for you.

Great!

Movement aside, which arguably both are beautiful, the 5170p wins in categories of the dial (incomparable sunburst blue), the markers (applied diamonds), the case (sleek, wearable, comfortable), and the lugs (just the right amount of shape).

Cheers!

I’ve been consistent on this... my preference for the 5170 has always been the white dial 5170G with the pulsometer...

I don’t like the sunburst nor do I like the diamonds. Just a preference of mine.
In terms of Lange, I prefer the dial of the boutique edition.

I don’t have either watch and just admire all of them...so my opinion isn’t really worth much. Both watches... are nice, Like I said I believe the Lange is a better watch here. But we can agree to disagree...that’s what makes a market. If someone made a market on the watch I’d short the crap out of it.

I would agree with that in many respects. One thing which I like about the Lange is the brushed finishing on the case flanks as well as the flyback function. I tend to be a bit OCD so I like to use my chrono as a seconds hand and I like to sync with the small seconds hands.

Short in terms of value? The ALS value retention is worse in normal market conditions.

5170p fanboy checking into this debate. I’ve owned the als chrono and it’s no match for the P. The case shape and long boring lugs make it wear large and a bit tall. I do like the black dial but it’s painted and no match for the gradient blue and applied diamonds

Clearly there is a material price difference. Get the AlS preowned to help a bit on value

I’ve owned both as well (5170p and original 1815 chrono). Still own the 5170p for the reasons mentioned above
