Incoming Seiko Chrono

I want to share with you all my latest "vintage" Seiko acquisition, a 7016-5020 (aka the Tank) from 1976; the world's thinnest automatic chronograph when introduced.
I managed to find one unpolished and with the original rally strap and buckle (though I know the color scheme might not be for everyone's taste).

For a bit of history, the Seiko caliber 7016 is a column wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch and flyback capability. It features stacked min and hour registers (something Patek wouldn't introduce until the 2000s). The features packed in this movement would be impressive today, let alone in the 1970s. It's a testament to the ingenuity and value Seiko offered and continues to offer.

Now some pics:

You're on fire!

Great pickup. That one is retro in all the right ways.

Do you have a side shot? Curious how thick (thin) it is...

Thank you all!

Erik, to answer your question. My calipers measure 13mm including the boxed crystal. It wears fairly compact and slim, moreso than my speedmasters.

Thanks for the exact measurement. That's not bad at all given both the age and crystal construction. The modern Daytona is 12.20mm for comparison.

I dig this watch. You did really well.

I had this exact reference but like so many the gold plating went south and the replating cost was $150 which was a bit much so I flipped it but they wear REALLY nice.'

Your example is OUTSTANDING congratulations that is one real beauty !

Beautiful! Huge congrats.

I love those 7016 "Monacos" they've gotten pretty expensive lately!
