Crown looks authentic imo....Twin lock with the bar under the crown. Whether it should be SS or gold is the question for this model..but SS seems appropriate....

Picked this Humble TT up last weekend , not seen light of day yet . But it will see plenty this weekend , also really enjoying how different lighting changes the gold tones of the Dial & jubilee bracelet .

I posted my 6605 with the repainted dial in another thread and thought you might like to see it.

Well, if you're gonna paint, let's PAINT! They couldn't do a decent honeycomb (there's a "simulated" honeycomb, but my contact did not recommend it), so I went with the depth dial, which is legit but, as you've pointed out, rare.
I'm gradually getting the feeling that there are deep divides in our society that are not "life and death" like religion or taxes. There are films that appear to be strictly investment vehicles ("Part 13, all licensed characters you've known for years") and films that are willing to take a chance and innovate, at the risk of losing all the marbles. By the same token, original, unmolested Rolex are probably a reasonably solid investment as they are potential museum pieces. But that leaves plenty of the others. While patina-enthusiasts abound, not everyone loves a dial that looks like it's been through a digestive tract. Not all patina is good patina. I wouldn't wear a spider dial even if it had been appraised at $100K, THEY UGLY. I'm a sucker for cream on a polar explorer II. So, I believe there will be a subgroup of vintage that will be "restored vintage" (not to be confused with "OVER-restored vintage") and I'll take a loving redial over a hideous original that only a purist could ever want, and then, only to OWN, never to wear or enjoy. And these may even enjoy some value, someday, the value that people place on classic autos with upgraded and functional A/Cs and seals. I had a 6605 with a heavily polished case and an ugly redial. Now, I have a 6605 with a heavily polished case and a pretty redial. Purist won't want it, but a wearer, or someone wanting to break into vintage with a wearable watch, who knows? How do we quantify? Dollars and SENSE. A nice 6605 with THAT dial in superb condition, probably $9k or more. Not a lot of people want to pay that for a DateJust. But my little crappy, which is still 18k tho polished, is now a PM-cutey. I probably wouldn't take half the superlative for it, I'd rather wear it.

Well I don't know about all of that, but, did the original dial have the depth text like that?

Alas, I have no way of knowing. Got it with a repaint. SOME of them had it.

I think I should have a DJ on every page. :) This 84 16030 was a late night ebay find from Columbia I think, bid 1756.00 and got it. Runs but needs a service. Nice old watch to fix up one of these days.
