I’ll give you all a hint. I got it for the same price as a 36mm Rolex OP MSRP.

Were you holding a weapon at the time of sale?

No sir. I honestly made the guy an offer jokingly and he was extremely excited with the amount. He had no idea where he could sell it, he actually asked me to give him 3500 and he would be happy. But I offered him 5 and he felt almost too bad to take it.

Not that this would ever happen to me because luck is never that kind to me in the watch world....but I'd totally buy the guy dinner/invite him over for events if you couldn't afford to pay him more. Guy basically threw away 10k for you.

I didn’t know the guy very well. I was connected to him through one of my jewellers who he brought the watch to for a once over. But I have definitely thought of this, I have already bought him a nice bottle of scotch. Please trust that I was raised by European immigrants an I have moral values lol

To be honest, I can't keep up with the prices. They go up about $500 a day it seems like recently.
I can say I get slightly more satisfaction out of wearing old plexi models over the sapphire ones but that's personal preferance.
If I were to guess the price, I'd say $20k usd for this model in this condition at this point. The untouched factor plays a huge role in the pricing.

To each their own but if you buy a watch for 30% of its price you're doing it for your own gain, not to satisfy both parties. Clearly the seller was happy because they had no idea of the value of the watch but in my opinion this is not ethical.

I honestly thought this watch would be worth $7500USD max. Because I sold a 5513 from 75 for that not too long ago. It wasn’t until I received an overwhelming amount of interest that I knew it’s true value. I am also fairly new to vintage. So please don’t start an guilt trip assault party. Thanks

The way prices have skyrocketed in the last 18 months - makes you wonder if we should just splash the cash we have right now on the watches we want, rather than wait.

18k for a full set 5513 might be the new normal.

Sadly I think 18k for full set isn’t going to get ya there for very long. At least for a nice example. Crazy.
