5712
I have always wondered if the 5712 is legible. I think the sub-spheres make it difficult.

Curious what you find difficult about it? For me, it works super well and I have no issues with the dial. Matter of fact, I absolutely LOVE the asymmetrical layout because it's so unique.

5712
I can see what you mean but the minute hand is perfectly sized to be right where it needs to next to each minute marker. I have no problems at all and absolutely love my 5712.

FWIW I find the 5712 a lot more legible than the 5740.

I find the time very legible, but the date is the only thing that’s hard to read as I get older. I like the way the 5712 harkens back to the design of the 3700 with no center seconds hand. Yes, there’s a small seconds but when you glance at the watch, you mostly just see the hour and minute hands.

Dear doramas,
Thank you for putting up all these posts and helping us get through this incredibly boring final month before, hopefully, there are some new watch releases and we have more things to lust after and bitch about. With sincere appreciation, cascavel. |

In all of these awesome photos, yes the dial looks busy and not very legible.
On the wrist (in three dimensions) the hour and minute hands stick out and the rest fades into the background. |

The hour and minute hands do jump out once it's on the wrist. Very easy to read the time at a glance.
The date is tough to read until you get used to it, at least with my fading vision. Over all, it's exquisite and legibility is not an issue. |

I think it's really legible
Less confusing than a Daytona in real life, helps that the information is just painted onto a blue dial with no extra metallic sub dials... The hour and minutes hands do pop out really well When I was thinking about which patek I went for this one 1 over some of the others for that reason... I find more, that full precious metal hands (no lume) can blend into a dial more on some pieces... be it cream ivory or black I've just got to the stage where it matters weather I'm wearing glasses or not as to how far away I like to hold my wrist- but to me, it's as obvious as a submariner |
