Date setting on the Extra Thin Jumbo >>>
...............15202st. Sorry if this has been discussed before.
So with the historical movement, the watch does not have a quick set date feature, which definitely makes it a 'pain' to set. Someone just recently suggested a semi-quick by advancing the hours to 2 and back again to 10, insead of all the way around, TWICE!!!! It works, but just wondering about any ill-affects on the movement. Comments are welcome please. Thx |

No worries about setting the date that way. From the owner's manual:
SIMPLIFIED date setting (certain models) Warning : The date correction sector is between 10.45 pm and 0.10 am (see figure). If the date indicated does not correspond, pull the crown to position B. Turn the crown clockwise to move the hand to 0.10 am. The date moves forward by one day. Turn the crown anti-clockwise to return the hand to 10.45 pm and repeat the previous step as many times as necessary. When this is done, set the watch to the correct time. Take care not to go through midnight and thus alter the date again.

I always did it that way when I had mine. Witnessed no ill effects, but it was certainly a major pain in the butt when I had to advance 20 or more days.

I really love my jumbo, but it’s a massive pain in the bum to set the date if I haven’t worn the watch in a while. *

Or you could wear your Jumbo on the day indicated in the window, you won’t need to update the date this way.

Love the size and look of the jumbo, but the missing second hand and non quickset date really drove me away but damn is that a beautiful watch! |

No worries at all to set the date this way. As others have said, it really is a pain to set it either way you do it because the crown is quite small and hard to turn. I invested in a Wolf watch winder and don't have to worry about it.

You can get an AP crown winder if you have fat fingers like me, really helpful!

Its a pain to set the date for jumbo, i always try to wear it around the same day of each month so i can avoid changing the date too much. Which leads me to wear my jumbo once (a period of time) every month. For example, I start wearing it on 18th and stopped wearing it on 21st. I will wear it again on 21st-23rd of next month. Sometimes, I only set the time and ignore the date lol

I may be in the minority here but I find watch winders to be helpful.

They are helpful. But I found I prefer my watches not to run 24/7, and I don’t mind the time it takes to set them. I enjoy it, actually, though admittedly the Jumbo takes the most effort by far. I do have a dual winder, but haven’t used it in years. Sometimes my wife puts her watches on it. |

Pretty sure if I ever were to get a jumbo, its one of the only watches I would almost certainly have to get a winder for. And I do enjoy setting my watches as well but this would be a major PITA.

The Jumbo deserves to get wrist time once a day for at least an hour.

The Jumbo is the only reason why I keep a winder around.
On top of the pain of setting the date, the crown/stem does feel delicate so I try to avoid messing with it as much as possible.. whether my concern is valid or not, makes me feel better to just keep it on a winder. To each his own. |
