Don’t really understand why it’s the Ad’s business whether I flip a watch I buy, lock in my safe , or eat it or bury it in my back yard . Give me a break !

Seriously. These dealers are out of their freakin minds and it's only a matter of time before this crap settles down and they lose all this "power" they seem to want to throw down. Absolute garbage and I would never play this game. I have bought a 5164a and 5711-1a as a first time PP buyer at two separate AD's, those are the ones who will continue to get my business. Not these others who pull bundles and "lists" on me. But the sheep will follow..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Man, I’m glad I have an honest, no BS AD. I’d never consider buying a Patek from another AD, never.

Some ADs "register" a Patek watch purchased for the customer. So Patek can track flippers if the watch is re-registered soon after it is purchased from an AD.
Whether it is right for an AD to "register" the watch is a different discussion topic. Most flippers will abhor this, but true collectors may applaud this. |

Seems like this is a great opportunity to spend lots of money and buy lots of watches one may or may not be interested in. Sign me up!

I heard that there are AD ‘s perusing EBay and Chrono to catch any flippers so they can scratch them off their buyers list and report them to Geneva- watch out !

The difference on the loss of sale for the Annual Calendar is your premium that you paid for your Nautilus.

I don't think anyone should buy another watch that one doesn't want in order to get an in-demand Nautilus. Better off just paying a premium to buy from grey dealers if that's the case. I also believe this is actually against the policy of the brands.

Wow I am amazed at the amount of reactions here, it seems like this is happening all around the world as well? Although the whole consensus is quite fairly rated at 50-50 with both sides agreeing and disagreeing with the current situation.

2. I believe this has been the norm since old times? Trends change all the time and ADs would have to keep shifting their stock in order to regulate Supply/Demand curve. 3. I apologize for not being thorough, when I used the word 'legal' what I meant was does the Manufacturer (in this case, Patek Philippe SA) approve of this method? Either way if the AD does decide in this direction it would be a whole new level of marketing. What would happen once the demand has died? Or would they keep rising instead? I guess we live in crazy times indeed... |

Honestly I still do not understand how they are selling for nearly double their retail price? Can't the AD just adjust the price to reflect more closely on market price?

"You must bundle to purchase a Nautilus"
Quote:
How long have you been collecting watches? I only ask this because of your response to 1 above. Yes the nautilus is iconic but when I started 10 years ago in this hobby people were very much into complicated pateks with people seeking out enamel, PCs and PCCs and so on which are things that go back decades before the 1976 nautilus. 5711s were popular but still attainable and would trade at a small discount off of retail in the preowned market. All in all a far cry from today. Now the “grail” is the entry level steel sports watch! Quite ironic by all measures! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Check out some of PP other pieces and you may skip a 5711. The 5396 is a great all purpose watch. The Nautilus is cool but the complicated watches are cooler.
