That looks amazing! May I ask if you have significant purchase history from them to approve this?

Thank you

I initially called inquiring about Privee collection availability. After hearing back there was a pink gold Asymetrique I made an appointment. After trying it on I inquired whether custom was a possibility. The SA said it wouldn’t hurt to ask Paris and instructed me to outline what I wanted—within a few weeks he let me know corporate had approved.

This was my first time dealing with Cartier and have to say I am very pleased. There are no games or jumping through hoops. Their market is more niche than PP, Rolex, VC at the moment but is gaining momentum from collectors (particularly, their early 2000s Privee collection which is what originally drew me to the look at Cartier more). Personally, I find their watches beautiful and with significant history behind each reference.

I am a buyer and highly recommend others if you don’t want to deal with the BS of other brands

If its not too crass to ask - what was the mark up from buying a stock one?

I'd love to try and get a white gold tank with a full guilloche dial, which i think are only modest changes

Anywhere from 10-50% depending on model and metal

I'm guessing it's a "no" but can't hurt to ask... if you are going all custom, can they do the asymmetric dial rotated the other way? The original purpose of that style dial is to put 12 o'clock at the top when worn on the left wrist and holding a large steering wheel. But on the right wrist the rotation of the dial is the wrong way. A true "piece unique" would be awesome if they'd do it.

That’s a great question, and one I had not even crossed my mind. I will ask this upon my next visit to the boutique.

In the meantime and keeping this thread going, here is the beautiful platinum chinoise and pink gold cintree I tried on yesterday.

Recently bought my first Cartier.
It is so comfortable and light, that you don’t feel it on your wrist

These Chinoise pieces are so elegant. How did the platinum piece strike you…or more specifically is there anything you didn’t like about it?
On the fence.

Loved it, has some heft to it given the metal. The case is beautifully executed, though I can see it getting dinged up easily. Only thing I wish they would have done differently is a guilloche dial instead of the regular one.

I was under the impression all of the 150 have been allocated. Were you able to secure one?

Travelling to Paris this week and wanted to see if anyone has experience buying Cartier watches from the boutique. Are the prices final or is there negotiation room?

Generally, if buying over there, you are buying it as souvenir of your travels not because you'll get a good price. I've rarely found that the deals in Europe are better. I also had an issue once getting the VAT tax refunded on some of my purchases, although nothing to do with Cartier. Also Cartier boutiques do not discount the price. You may be able to get an extra strap thrown in as part of the purchase depending on the boutique. I got a free alligator strap for my Santos de Cartier with blue dial at my local US boutique. A friend was in Rome and the boutique there wasn't any cheaper than the US and they wouldn't give him a free strap with his purchase. So he waited until he got back to the States and bought the same watch from the salesperson I go to. Anyway, wishing you luck and enjoy your travels!

I have 1 big problem with Cartier. I cannot get mine without buying my wife's first.

Call it the packaged deal requirement but not imposed by an AD.

I just need to bite the bullet on this one.

Thanks, I appreciate the insight. It’s the same in Canada(in Toronto anyways). No discounts from the boutique maybe strap at most.

Oh well, going to enjoy Paris and do some window shopping along the way.

My boutique SA was able to reserve one for me, but I ended up pulling out because another due incoming actually was finally coming, so I couldn’t do both…plus I was a little on the fence. The rose gold piece is probably the nicest given a little contrast with the dial, whereas the platinum is strongly monochromatic. But platinum is always my favored option, so unfortunately I didn’t love everything about it enough to commit to the end. C’est la vie.
