Stripped Crown on my 1601
I have a 1970 wideboy but it seems my crown and / or case tube are stripped. I have to try screwing down my crown like 30 times because it keeps on popping out.
Has this happened to anyone else and if so, how much should it cost to fix the problem? I don't really want to replace my original crown but seems like I have to. Thanks for the help! |

Usually the crown and tube are replaced as a pair, although they can be replaced individually if the other part is sound.
I don't know anybody who repairs old crowns. If the threads in the crown are the only issue, they simply unscrew from the stem and any watchmaker with a new crown in-hand can change it in a few minutes.

This happened to me several years ago on my 1500. Watchmaker changed the tube and all was good. Don't know the cost as it was covered under warranty by the watchmaker whom I bought the watch from.
