Bingo. Thank you so much for this shot. Just what I thought.

The 20mm cadeback flat surface sitting on the bones of the smaller wrist might be the reason for a potential discomfort, considering it's a heavier watch at 194g (complete).
Adding a picture on my average 18cm/7in flat wrist (6cm wide), the watch sits nicely tucked in, not protruding at all.

I tried to emulate the same amount of wrist bend in Nick800‘s photo ... I think I actually curved my wrist less to achieve the same effect

That’s said, there’s no doubt that for some the caseback shape is a problem and for others it’s just perfect. In all honesty I’m somewhere in between.

The SD43 is a fantastic diver without a doubt, my favourite in fact, but for me it’ll never be a daily wearer due to comfort on the wrist which has to do with more than just the shape of the caseback FWIW.

Lastly, I don’t own the SD43 to wear it every day, I never bought it with that purpose in mind. I have other references that are much more comfortable (to me) for daily wear.

I own the SD43 because it looks wickedly cool, it’s got great history, I’m born in 67’ and share it’s birth year, and I wanted a larger diver but just couldn’t pull off the Dblue.

IMO definitely the most comfortable professional Rolex. The only others coming close would have to be DJs on Jubilees.

Can someone please post a pic of the underside of the case? I want to see the size of case back in relation to the case.

I have the diver extension removed on both watches. On the SD43 at 12 o'clock I have 5 and 1/2 links and 5 at 6 o'clock position. I feel the watch weight immediately (I like its heft on the wrist) when I put it on my wrist then it quickly disappears and I don't notice it at all throughout the day.

OP, it sad that you have discomfort while wearing it. Try removing the divers extension (flip lock) and readjust the bracelet links.
Exactly. I have been wearing my DSSD non stop for 3 days and it is thicker than the SD43, complete comfort. I also have a 7.5 flat wrist.

Yup, remove the divers extension and adjust with the bracelet itself.

I recently got the TT. I have a small wrist, just under 6.5 inches. I think this watch is about the most comfortable watch I own. With the shorter lugs the watches head sits perfectly on my wrist unlike the Annual Calendar (with much longer lugs) which in fact looks bigger and is not comfortable at all.

I tried the SD43 when it came out, it felt uncomfortable for me too. I was wearing a SubC at the time, and the Sub felt like a dream compared to that new SD.

SD43 is not a watch for every folk out there. You need one big wrist for it. I know guys who put their name on the list to get one without ever try it.....

OP, that was a good move. Enjoy the BLNR!

Congratulations

Yes, a GMT will wear much lighter and more comfortable than the SD43 to me as well. YMMV

Personally, it doesn’t make sense to me to buy a “dive watch”, and then remove the divers extension to make it fit and pay extra for the gas release valve etc. Just saying. I briefly had an SD 43, but quickly concluded that a Submariner fits me better, and I use its features.

Remove the Diver's Extension, (as others have suggested) and, voila!!!! If you have a knowledgeable AD, its the first thing they suggest when sizing the watch for you.

Exactly the same here. I have a slim, flat, 6.75 inch wrist and find the SD43 extremely comfortable worn where I like to wear my watches (just above the wristbone)

Since it’s inception, the Sea Dwellers have always been a specialist reference. Designed for one purpose and one alone.

It’s not for everyone. It works really well for me. It doesn’t for others.

What it doesn’t deserve is cheap shot insults from people for whom a Rolex is a fashion statement and who don’t quite get it.

Tall and big. Disproportionate in a word.
The 40mm of a Submariner is ideal. I hope these rocks go extinct.

Pretty much the same I’d guess.

Also worth pointing out that the SD43 caseback protrudes by exactly the same amount as the 116600 and almost exactly the same as the Deepsea.

The difference with the Deepsea (which would look just as bad in a picture with the caseback balanced on the wrist bone) is that the flat part of a Deepsea caseback that contacts the skin is a few mm wider in diameter so works better on some wrists.

Snowflakes and ultra sensitive people need not apply. It's been mentioned many times on many threads the SD50 is a little more noticeable to wear than a submariner. Obviously it's heavier. The photo nick800 posted is meant to be deceptive IMO. Thanks to brandrea for posting the photo showing the deception. Beat me too it, but here's another. If you are used to a light weight watch and don't want to know your watch is there, the SD might not be for you. If you want the best looking diver available and you are not a snowflake, get the SD.

Totally agreed with you. Some guys expect a sport watch to look like Calatrava , so stupid

I had one, which started to hurt when worn too long. Bought DSSD and no problems. By far prefer the DSSD wear comfort to SD43.

V cool watches to look at an image of. But yes they are large and a bit unbalanced on the wrist unless you are very large or want a statement piece (It's a Rolex btw everyone)

The 5 digit subs and current Daytona's and explorers had a case shape that fit far snugger to the wrist.

Some seem to align masculinity to the size of their favourite piece of jewellery, which seems so confusing to my foolish mind. But its very entertaining to read the rationale, in any case the Expendables 6 needs some new cast members to hold the cigars and talk about the good old days!

Whatever the case I hope the op find a watch that is enjoyed.

Wow! People do write some tripe on these issues. The watch that fits every wrist
perfectly has not been made yet. The 43 mm will fit some like a glove, and at the same
time be uncomfortable to others.Whats new about this? It is the same with just about
any watch ever made. Why people waste time with issues like this,is something i will
never understand.

It felt ok trying on in store for a couple of minutes but now having worn for longer I find it's so uncomfortable, the case back is very pronounced meaning only a small patch is in contact with the wrist, it therefore wobbles on the sides.
I've owned bigger Rolex watches before including a deepsea and yacht master 2 but never had any issues with them, I'm planning to take back an exchange it, anyone else had this issue with the Sea Dweller 126600? Surely I can't be the only one!
I've heard this before now, with an average size wrist this is why I didn't even bother with a SD43

I owned one and got rid of it for different reasons, but I certainly agree with many here that the DSSD is the ultimate.
