Root beer or Skydweller - help....

Hi All - I am down to two watches..... Can't decide between a two tone root beer and a steel sky dweller with black dial. I am trading my SD43 plus a little cash for one of them. I feel like the SD43 is a little big on me so that makes me worry about the SkyD, but I have also never really loved two tones (but the root beer seems different some how - looks very cool). I am a one watch guy and want the right all arounder... like look of SkyD if not too big... Help ;-)

Thanks!

Kind of depends on how big you think the SD43 was for you.

Looks wise alone, I'd still go CHNR generally. I think Skydweller is one of those watches that looks nice up close, but nothing special far away. CHNR pops far away.

My vote is rootbeer, unless you can justify needing the need of the added annual calendar complication.

I got the chance to try on a Sky Dweller at my AD Tuesday - since I wanted to see how it looked on me (it was PM and I wanted steel - but just needed to check size).
My wrist is relatively flat at 7-7 1/4 inches. In my view it was just to big on my wrist: crying:
Also tried on the TT Root Beer and feel in love - fit was real nice.

I'm not much of a TT fan, but in this choice I'd go with the Rootbeer.

Are sure you want a steel and rose gold watch as your “one and done”? My pick would be the steel sky dweller, it’s a relatively big Rolex - but not a big watch in general. As long as you don’t wear it super loose the heft shouldn’t be that bad.

Sky dweller all day. I have a blue one. I also love the complications. Gorgeous watch. You won’t be disappointed

I went through some of the same internal conversation recently. Glad you have it narrowed to two.

I was not a TT fan, but really loved the Rootbeer after seeing it in person. As such, I purchased and am very happy with the choice. I have a 7 1/4 wrist and the Rootbeer GMT fits perfect.

While the SkyD black and white are both nice, I wanted blue as I had black and white faced watches already. Blue was impossible to obtain, so I gave up looking. My only other fear on SkyD was size. I think it would fit fine on my wrist size, but could never try it on in person.

Good luck!

Would prefer BLRO over Rootbeer any day.....owners of RB get tired of the color relatively quick which is not the case with owners of Pepsi.

complications / movement = SkyD.

Looks = GMT.

SkyD is a love it or hate it type of watch. some people love the way it looks, while others think it is the ugliest Rolex piece there is.

meanwhile, I have not met a single person that does not like the looks of GMT.

Hi All - thanks for comments. Wow - what a struggle... I could also get the new Batman, but really struggle to pay more for something that should cost less than my SD43 - if that is a crazy thought feel free to tell me. They also offered me YM 40 in dark rhodium, which is what I thought I wanted, but as an only watch the platinum bezel worried me long term. Is pretty tough when you like basically everything ;-) My wrist is 6.75".

Try them both on your wrist if you can get the opportunity. Sleep on it and go back the next day and you'll know which one you want.

I have both. It would be very hard to pick a winner because they are both such nice watches in their own right. I'd go with the Sky Dweller. It's so clever, both in its features and the simple way in which they are presented. It's a personal choice. I can't tell you which one you would like the most.

Personally I have been captivated by the Sky-dweller since it came out but I sure get the appeal of the Rootbeer!

And I should add - what a great problem to have! You really can't go wrong with either, its just which one is more wonderfuler on your wrist.

I have them both. Diameter is obviously pretty much the same but the SkyD dial is much larger. The SkyD is much less top heavy than SD43.

Back to your original question - I would get the SkyD over rootbeer. It is a special timepiece.
