No, since they are not hand crafted and certainly not even the best made watches in the industry

A.
That is clearly my opinion as I’ve never seen an AP, PP or VC I liked the style of in person. Rolex has always been what I wanted. I think it’s relative to ones tastes, demographic and lifestyle that form the opinion for said question. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Rolex watches are mass-produced by machines. Only the movements are handmade.

I don't like being harsh but this is a bogus question. Rolex isn't hand made and is definitely not even close to being best. They can't even get their rehaut engraving to lineup everytime.
My answer is NO that title sits with PP. Its not even a competition. |

C...granted general reliability and quality of build is definitely super super high, but apart from that nothing "special" after the pretty epic reliability and materials quality.

I consider Rolex to be really well made of quality materials, well designed, attractive and even though arguably expensive, a lot of watch for the money. I think there are watches like Patek that are more fine but the even greater expense for what you get might be hard to justify. Just my opinion...using a car analogy, I feel like Rolex sports watches are the Porsches.

Depends on your definition of best.
Durability, reliability, accuracy, fast reasonably priced servicing, value retention, I believe they are the best. Finishing, they are not the best. If you want a bunch of complications, they are not the best. |

Rolex, great watches, well made watches, reliable watches, sought after watches, aspirational watches.
The watches are built using modern technology and human intervention, they have a fantastic reputation and remain a brand that people want to own. Rolex is a luxury watch brand and is possibly the best known watch brand in the world. Does it fit the OP's A to E, yes all of them and no none of them. It all depends on your personal situation and what your goals are.

Rolex aren't hand crafted and there are many brands of higher quality and finish. The main thing Rolex has over other brands is probably the durability of their movements and of course brand recognition. Rolex is not a bad watch but not fantastic either. Its like a Lexus, its a luxury brand that is affordable and has quality and durability. Other brands like the holy trinity, A Lange, FP Journe and others come to mind when you are discussing high quality hand finished products. However they're like a Ferrari/Lamborghini. Amazing products and a beauty to behold but you won't be happy with the bill if something goes wrong |

There are easily better watches out there at a higher level. There's much, much more to Rolex in the very broadest of context, than what is percieved to be actually attached to the wrist. To an extent, one is buying access to the organisation and what it stands for at the point of sale which could in some ways, be described as a beacon of integrity |

To me this question is hard to answer. All Swiss watches must meet the same minimum standard of timekeeping and robustness to have "Swiss Made" on the dial. Haute Horology reflects high movement finishing, complications, dials and cases. Ruggedness is really determined by the case and shock absorbers not the movement. The same can be said for pressure resistance. So it really boils down to where a watch company wants to excel. Rolex probably leads the pack in movement accuracy. Some have reported here their watches are accurate to a second per month. Certainly, a notable achievement. Rolex are cased up so they can take a lot and keep right on going. So in the niche of reliable accurate sports watches Rolex comes close to the best and are probably the best at any price. If you want a hand finished movement and exotic dial, Rolex does not rank high there.

D and it’s not even close! Love Rolex but it’s not high Horology, it’s high marketing!

Also well made, very beautiful and timeless designs with materials and aesthetics that are seemingly future proof. It’s not finished like an ALS or complicated like a Patek nor does it use techy materials like an AP, yet Rolex watches are the most widely recognized and highly desired watches on earth. They’re simple, basic, well made and well designed. No matter what material or how complicated or well finished a watch I own from any brand, Rolex will be my favorite brand by miles. And none of these attributes are marketing or hype, it’s facts. |
