C) Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and Vacheron Constantin are miles ahead of Rolex on quality and craftsmanship. Rolex makes great stainless steel sport timepieces that can take a beating.

Yes, Rolex is not haute horology. I don't think they intend to portray themselves as such. I don't want HH as Rolex suits my needs. They are accurate, well made, attractive, and robust. I acknowledge Patek for what it is, but they don't suit my needs.
I vote C as it is a factual statement. Adjectives such as "best" are far too subjective as it means something different to every person. |

PP/AP/ALS/VC= Ferrari/Bentley/Rolls: hand-made, ? reliable, expensive to repair. And Grand Seiko=Lexus YMMV |

I've looked at enough Grand Seikos to know Rolex isn't the gold standard. Higher end watches take that "quality" a step further.
I like Rolex for the history, and they're made like tanks... So for me that's a win. |

Exactly this. Define the criteria, as best is too vague for this question.

Given your parameters, I'd probably go with option B. They make an excellent time piece, one that I'm happy to own and use daily. To me their value is the fact I can wear it while engaging in my day to day activiites without much in the way of worry. I can't honestly say the same about some of the other haute horology pieces like PP, AP etc.
I like the robustness of their build. |

They're the best for me. I love and appreciate the engineering excellence, and as a guy who sweats in the summer and lives in the south, I like a water proof watch on a bracelet. I respect Patek, AP and VC, and there are a couple I'd be willing to own, but Rolex ticks all my boxes.

Quality and durable production watch with outstanding marketing. I can get better movements with better finishing without the outstanding marketing in other impressive brands for less money.

I think the argument about being hand-crafted or not is misleading and futile. All watches at this level are a mix of some "hand-craft" and some "machine-craft"! Does PP or ALS or RM have their techs forge the case or make the movement pieces etc manually? There are clearly different levels of hand-crafting, different quality materials, and different levels of finishing, but this "hand-crafted" vs "machine-produced" is worthless, IMO.
So, it's a B for me! |

B and C. Odd post though - Rolex is mass produced. Even the most intense Rolex fanboy wouldn’t consider their watch(es) hand crafted.
Even much cheaper brands are “better” in that regard... i.e. Grand Seiko. |

Rolex makes a nice mass produced watch and as much as we may love them they are far from hand crafted, IMO.

AP, Patek, Journe. Are miles a head of Rolex, in terms of finishing, and craftsmanship.
Rolex makes a solid great looking watch, if you had to ask me either AP or Rolex as just one watch id take Rolex. Its durable and works for any situation. Whilst if i had an AP I definitely wouldnt want to be taking it to a beach or a pool. Whilst my DJ does all those things. |

No. I put a Grand Seiko snowflake next my Rolex. And the GS seemed more refined.

It’s not hand crafted. Machine crafting used, though, has no match

Which watch is best depends on the attributes that that you value in a watch and the use to which the watch will be put.
