PP like Rolex use machines where machines do a better job than humans to make their watches. The thing with PP is they make very fine complicated movements, which Rolex do not do.

PP have not long opened a new massive production building Switzerland

Well that’s depends on what you mean by best. Best for actual sport and being used as a tool-they blow away PP and AP and it’s not even close. AP/PP/VC would be broken by noon on my wrist many days. Now, you want the prettiest and best finished, then look elsewhere.

C - but I will explain.

If you’ve spent any meaningful time with an AP or a Patek you’ll find Rolex somewhat utilitarian. However...they are great watches for various reasons. Firstly, the brand has stellar worldwide recognition amongst non watch aficionados, and as such, the wearer gets more “prestige” bang for the buck with a Rolex. But, they are certainly not the brand most admired by the watch loving fraternity, they’re reasonably priced, solid Timepieces, and largely, appreciating (in value) watches.

My 16710 is the best damn wristwatch in the world. Patek can keep their fancy wancy 22Karat rotor and impractical finishing. And no rappers rap about 16710s. So there.

C or D for me. The brand kind of leaves me cold, though I truly love the simplicity and reliability of their workhorse movements like the 3130 and 3135. There are a few models I like (Sky-Dweller, Milgauss--and I like those a lot), and one or two references that I yearn for (Explorer 1016). At their current market prices, though, there are a lot of other watches I'd rather have.

Someone mentioned that they lack complications, which that's generally true. But the Sky-Dweller, with its month display and control bezel, shows that Rolex can put together some pretty cool things.

I liked Jean-Claude Biver's take on Rolex when he was rebuilding Tag Heuer....

"If you want to compete with Rolex, it's like looking at the sun without sunglasses. Once you've looked at the sun then you look back, then you see nothing anymore".

Love that quote and love JCB too. He's such an interesting character, I could listen to his stories all day.

A. While I am logically aware that there may be and are probably better watches, that's not at all where my focus is, so I can't say.

So my consideration is "A".

Let me put it this way: what do most people in the world consider to be the best?

Measuring by that consensus, then, THAT brand is indeed the best.

That’s rich if you trust the opinion of most people lol

I still lean on Rolex because I’m upper middle class at best but hand crafted and best aren’t Rolex terms and never will be!
