Incoming impulse buy

I am working out of town this and next week. So to fill some time today, I travelled to a Rolex AD. There was no plan of this yesterday or any time before now. Was just to look around and size a submariner to see how 40mm would look on my wrist for the future if an opportunity ever arose, since I always thought 40 would be too small for me for a dive watch.

Anyway, those were all sold out obviously (I did try a two tone, and the size looks a little better on me than I thought it would. So I guess it’s a possibility down the road after all, although a 42 would be perfection). But there were a couple DJs in stock. I’m loving it so far. I was first drawn in with the white dial fluted bezel. Looked amazing. But figured I wanted to wear this in a lot of situations and felt the fluted bezel was too flashy. Plus the black is nice since I have a white dial GS and blue Omega Aqua Terra. Now I have the 3 different colors of 3 different brands of almost the exact same looking watch haha.

Never thought I’d get over my ‘dislike’ of Rolex and actually purchase one. But I guess we all live with some contradictions.

Would love to know if the brand will grow or shrink on you after this purchase.

Did an "impulse buy" on a DJ 41 silver, jubilee, smooth .....

My son had a provincial track and field meet .Around Feb 2019.Quickly popped into an AD in the city . Was looking for a 116610LN at that stage .They had one but was reserved for another buyer at a certain time that day .They couldnt get hold of him and told me if he didnt pick it up ,I could have it ...he didnt keep the appointment .I got it . BUT they had the DJ in the display .Kept spooking me for the next few days and a week later picked it up .It gets plenty wrist time .

The DJ41 jubilee with polished smooth bezel presents very well on the wrist, its actually more flashy than most believe .

Nothing to dislike about Rolex ,wont be the last one !

Refreshing to see a Toyota steering wheel on the forum ! I drive one myself .Everything keeps going right .

Congratulations. With your wrist size you need to be looking at a SD43. For me it’s the ultimate diver. I know the DSSD is the king but I’m not a fan of the ring lock system and the thickness. The SD43 is nearly perfect. It it was just a little thinner it would be perfect imo. 7.25 inch wrist for reference.

Same here. But I’ve always liked the watches themselves. Very nice watches. It is for quite a few other reasons I dislike Rolex that this watch isn’t likely to change. But I’ll let you know if it’s just that great that it does haha

Definitely blingy. But I don’t know what it is. Something I can’t really verbalize but the fluted bezel just put it over the top for flashy/dressy. Which is great, I liked the fluted more, but I wanted to be able to wear this frequently and the fluted just didn’t feel like I’d be able to.

Plus, for an impulse buy that I seriously 100% didn’t budget or even have in my head the night before, $2k seemed like a fortune. Once I figured I’m going to buy one and found myself already at $7,900, each $100 increase felt like an additional 1k lol. So I talked myself out of the fluted.

I love Toyota! Like watches and vehicles built to last! Cheers!

Same here. I’ve figured it I went that route, it would be SD43 to get that little extra size. Just like you, I’m not so much a fan of the DSSD for the same reason.

We shall see. Now that the psychological Rolex barrier has been broken, who knows what is possible haha
