poorly set watches in media ads

It bothers me to see expensive watch advertising were the watch hands are not set accurately. The attached Rolex shows the hour to be slightly past 10:04, yet the seconds hand is approaching the :39 position.

The Omega ad fails as well. The watch shows 10:10 and yet the seconds hand is at the :35 position

Best not buy them then, as the gear train will ultimately drift even if set precisely which isn't so easy.

This image could have originated anywhere. I highly doubt it was the principal image of any official marketing collateral — as “ROLEX” is obstructed. It’s just a random photo.

The second hand at 35 has an explanation.

Chances are they are trying to spread out the hands to best show off the dial.

You must be kidding, or you know nothing about the Speedmaster.

I wish I could’ve warned you about some people here before you posted that. Some of the replies were depressingly predictable. Sorry for the onslaught. I set my watchs precisely also. It’s part of the hobby for me.

The hand you are talking about on the Omega is the chronograph hand of which Omega boutiques and advertisements often stop at the 37 second marker (in this case the 35 sec marker) so that the observer can see the entire dial and sub dials unobstructed especially the logo at the top center.

No it isn't. The seconds are shown on the 9.00 sub dial. The large hand at the :35 position is the chronograph hand

It bothers me when people use "were" instead of "where" in a sentence. Clearly a grammatical tragedy!!
